What is the latest on this? Is the decision pending some kind of ESPN financial commitment?

Personally I hope it stays 8 teams. It will be a gauntlet for all with the new kids from the Big 12 addition.

We honestly know nothing about 2025 and beyond. Who knows what the number of games and rotation will be?

All we know for 2024 is who the opponents will be. The dates should be released this month.

It's all about the money. If BSPN agrees to pay more money for more conference games we will get it. If not, we will stay at 8.

This

Sankey will never give that up for free and ESPN says they won’t give more at this time.

Ask yourself this question:

What does the SEC office believe is best for bammer?

That is your answer.

It will either be a 1-7 or a 3-6, so we do have some idea. But won’t know for sure probably until around this time next year. The format should be set for a while after that, barring further expansion.

Id bet right now people at Florida state are figuring out how to jump ship on the ACC. Them not making the playoffs is unforgivable imo. 13-0 and conference champion and not invited over 1 loss teams is a joke.

If you saw any of the FSU live shows during and after the announcement, they are scheming up ways to get out of their $500MM ACC buyout and sue the ACC for damages.

They should be getting the support of the ACC to litigate the NCAA and it's backroom shenanigans. Auburn might also want in as it's not really ancient history nor unlikely to be repeated if you're not one of the chosen few.
