Freeze will likely bring in other QBs, but I'm actually pretty excited to see what he does with Ashford. Freeze is a creative offensive guy and Ashford has some tools to be dangerous if he can put it all together.

Over/under how many Ashford/Freeze threads we get before the start of next season?

Ashford is an elite athlete but i dont think he has the mental toughness for the Qb position. He could prove me wrong and i would be pleasantly surprised

See the IB, when he was willing the team down the field and get back to me.

Not sure why people have made up that he isn't mentally tough. Seemed plenty tough to me.

Main things I see:
He needs to shorten his delivery mechanics by a lot. Doable.
He needs to become more than a one read QB. Don't know what he has between the ears but I'd imagine he can get there.

Probably 7.5 by the spring game honestly... This and Oline will be (rightfully) scrutinized.

I think people are referring to him playing with a lot of emotion. Too much emotion > makes mistake > gets in his own head > tries to play outside his system and comfort zone > make more mistakes

He was relatively mistake free the last 4 games.

Or maybe maturity. Seems there were a couple times on sideline where he let emotion get the better of him and then also when he took to Twitter complaining.

Kid’s still young + I can only imagine how frustrating it was under potato posse.

Also, I always think about how Jason Campbell transformed when he got the “right” coaching.

Time will tell about Ashford, but seems like A LOT of potential and I’m here for it.

I may be wrong here - and I have not seen anyone else post this - but I don't think Ashford will be on the openiing day roster next Fall.

I think Freeze hits the portal for HIS quaterback - Ashford won't be named starter - Ashford hits the portal again.

Again, I may be wrong - but this is how I feel it may play out.

I wonder if he would have more potential at safety. The kid laid it all out there for the team, but he just isn’t a viable passing QB.

there aren't many guys like Kodi Burns out there - my guess would be Ashford wants to play QB.

I could see this happening. Who really knows at this point. There are some good names coming into the portal, some that could very well beat out Ashford, Calzone, and Geriner for the starting spot.

And neither was Nix until he got away from our Oline, WRs, and play calling. Just saying

I'd need to rewatch them but he only broke 100 yards passing once and had Qb ratings of 60,25,35,90... with 2 passing TDs and 2 picks... he actually had 4 running TDs.

They really changed up how they were using him during those games. He didn't have 2-3 fumbles per game so if that's the bar for "mistake free" I agree, but he was far from a quarterback that could get us to 10 wins.

Nix was Viable against similarly talented teams. Not when OL’s shite was pushed in.

Agreed. Ashford in the right scheme could REALLY slow down a pass rush. Nix was mobile but not athletic nearly to the level of Ashford.
