From what I saw, Daniel played DT all game against Miss State. Not end. Is this where we will see him from now on?
At a few different points, the defensive line was 30, 1, 97 , 55
Was very nice to see.

Maybe it was for pass rushing situations. If it's permanent then I had no idea

I think I remember a quote from EJ about if Daniel could put on a little weight, he could be a very good DT.

They talked in fall camp about the possibility of moving him inside but nothing was ever confirmed. I noticed this on 3rd down passing situations in the 2nd half but I doubt it'll become a permanent stay on all downs.

I believe I read something awhile ago in here where ED was going to play both inside and outside. IIRC

yep and really very inexperienced. Ford has not played much and the other three were true freshmen. And this was on one of States last drives. That is a coach having confidence in his freshmen..

EJ said if Daniel puts on more weight, he'd be a "dynamic" DT. I take that as once he puts on weight in the offseason S&C program, he'll be a fulltime DT

If Rodney can develop this DL, 2015's line will be scary good

Well, other than those three guys, we dont have anything in the cupboard for 2015.
We need some tackles. And some ends that will ball

I had said thay Elijah was going to move to the Ingram role of a versatile DT before games started and am sticking with that. Heard that was the plan for him sue to his soze and athletic ability

Almost all his reps were at DT Saturday.

Elijah Daniel works inside and outside
Freshman defensive end Elijah Daniel lined at tackle in some pass rush situations against Mississippi State, Johnson said that will continue to be an option.
"If we put our very, very best four pass rushers, he's probably one of the best inside guys," Johnson said. "He's physical enough to play one-on-one with the guards we got to play against, but he's quick enough and fast enough and explosive enough to run the twists and get outside and control the quarterback and other things that our big tackles sometimes struggle with."
Johnson wouldn't rule out the possibility of Daniel one day becoming a full-time defensive tackle.
"I think right now he's still a defensive end," Johnson said, "but if he gets much, much bigger and stronger he can be a dynamic 3-technique."

It's called playing your best players, and we need to continue it. Our upperclassmen defensive linemen suck.

I think I read that Daniel showed up for fall camp at around 270 so if he put on 10 pounds so far, he could very well be a speed tackle for the inside.
The only problem with moving ED inside will be thinning out end even more unless they have plans to move someone else to end.

I remember either Hoke or Matthews stated in one of their recruiting updates that AU coaches were re-evaluating their plans for DL in the 2014 class. Mainly because many of them firmly believe Elijah Daniel is about to grow into a big time DT. Hence the reason they are targeting more DE's in this class. I.e. Kennion, Thornton and Andrew Williams.

We were taking those three NMW. I think we could take 4 if we wanted.
