Per his Instagram and Marcello posted a story on Twitter.

quote:

AUBURN, Alabama — Dontavius Russell had big NFL hopes entering the season, but after an impressive year he is staying at Auburn for his senior season. GET THE SCOOP The junior defensive tackle made the announcement on Twitter on Christmas night. He was projected as a second- to fourth-rounder by WalterFootball.com. His numbers have not been on an elite level, but coaches have raved about how he affects plays he does not record a statistic. Russell has 41 tackles with three for a loss, including one sack, and has also forced a fumble and batted down a pass entering the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder is a starter in the middle of Auburn's defense. Russell recorded 29 tackles last season and 42 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, in 2015.

It’s a Christmas miracle.

The selfish side of me hopes everyone eligible takes the “unfinished business” approach and comes back.

A lot of them have families though and need to capitalize on their opportunity. Hard to knock someone for that.

I assume by this decision that the NFL grades are now in?

I have no idea if they are or not. I know someone here and in an article said that Holland stated he planned on coming back after the SECC loss. Of course he could change his mind but it gets my hopes up.

Why aren't the grades open to the public?

Great news
I'm liking the stability on the staff and the players.

They're personal grades, not team grades. At this point, think of them as football's ACT.

I hope it pays off for him. As much as I love Auburn, if I got a 2-4 round grade, I’d be getting paid.

It's not a guarantee to get drafted there, he could have ended up like Stanley McClover and plummet. I think it's a good move for him to stay and raise his draft stock.
