Agreed. The band would have had a day, but it seems Freeze continues to labor to get his passing offense up to par. And he did this last year as well. Remember when he took losses trying to get the passing offense going and didnt bend the knee until the Kentucky game. I know Arnold's stats looked fine on paper, but beneath the hood I dont see much reason to believe we have much of a dynamic passing attack.

To me Coleman, Singelton, and Fields make almost any passing game dynamic.

I’m much more concerned about kicking. We will need those 3 points in SEC play.

We were forcing the pass, even though the run was there all game. Looked like we were practicing the short game and not actually running the full offense.

My biggest gripe are the opening drives that result in zero points. It feels like every game we start off slow. Every half time we start off punting. To me it screams poor coaching and the inability to motivate your team to execute at a high level.

I’ve seen a lot of people bitch about the game yesterday.

The last two years we lost games like this we had no business losing.

Yesterday we slept walked through the game and dominated them. Yeah there were a few busted plays, but this team isn’t the last two years teams. Those teams would have found a way to lose games like this. And yesterday busted plays and all we gave up negative rushing yards.

For the first time in years we have hope. We have a chance to be a really good football team, and it’s disappointing seeing more people complain about the game than celebrating a dominant win. Sure it was an over matched team in Ball State but so was New Mexico State. I remember that game having a fairly different result.

Kickoffs are good.

FG Q? I know McPherson is not full speed. It looks like he could easily make kicks from 35 yards(28 yard scrimmage line), but CHF keeps saying “20 yards” which is PAT distance.
I guess they see all the practice reps so they have to draw a line.

I think against Ball State and South Alabama it makes sense to pass more than we should if the team needs some practice on timing etc.

The biggest issue I saw was the pass blocking.

I don’t know why the southern miss kicker hasn’t been doing kickoffs all year. His leg appears much stronger than Towns.

We never lost a single game "like this". Ball St is an inferior opponent in all aspects. We did lose games we should have won last year, but they were not of the Ball st caliber. They were Oklahoma, Arkansas etc.

Special teams outside of kickoffs and Pleasant have been garbage. They’ve got to figure it out. It will cost us one or more games.

I’m more nervous than Malcolm Simmons’ girlfriend when he is fielding punts.

I’m gone to give Malcolm a little slack from last night. I don’t know how they looked on tv, but at the game those punts were awful knuckleballs. Wind wasn’t helping either. The ones that he actually punted clean, Malcolm did an okay job with other than the one at the end of the half that the guy just nuked opposite side of the field after a few wounded ducks. Malcolm dead sprinted over but he wasn’t getting to that one.

It needs to be better, but with how bad those punts were to try and field, I’m much happier with someone letting it go instead of trying to make a diving catch on a wounded duck.

You would think so with the talent but to me what makes a dynamic passing offense is a vertical passing game. Yards per attempt, yards per catch and so on.

Singleton is like our Ryan Davis and Eli Stove guy- bubble screens and jet sweeps.

We all should enjoy the win but I remember scoring 77 on teams like Ball State with Jason Campbell on multiple deep strikes.

I watched the game again and it looked like to me that Ball State’s plan was to run as much clock as possible between plays from the jump. Even though they had nothing going offensively, and punted 10 times, they won time of possession 30:15 to 29:45…the game really got shortened because of it.

The opening drive should be scripted and well thought out. I have no clue why we always start sluggish.

Your memory is poor, we scored 30 on Ball State and Jason Campbell threw for 209 yards and one touchdown in the game.

We haven’t seen a lot of long vertical throws in the passing game. It’s a lot of short to medium catch and run plays.

I dont want Jason Campbell. I want a vertical passing attack. And I said a team "like Ball State". There was one game where he connected on every deep ball and we scored 70+. That much I know.

Right. We need to stress the defense. If the defense is trying to stop the run the intermediate passes are not going to make the defense readjust.

Auburn used yesterday as a glorified practice for the passing attack.

We know we can run the ball. We know we can go RPO at will. We also know that Jackson Arnold is new to the system and still trying to mold with the WR group. We also need to give the OL reps for pass protection. Auburn will probably do a lot of the same against South Alabama.

We also need to acknowledge that our RB are not the best. Probably the weakest we have had in years.

Indeed. The question is can Jackson do the job. Dont remember the quarter but I remember taking one deep shot on the right side of the field not only did he underthrow the WR but the DB too! (fortunately)
