He's a pretty good QB. He has taken Kentucky to 10-3 record in previous season.

Not really. He averaged like 145 passing yards that season. Benny Snell carried that team to 10 wins and like 1500 rushing yards.

Irregardless of any OL issues which are obvious; I just don't see anything special about Nix. Playing under Gus behind this OL is a death sentence in itself, but just looking at the raw tools...he looks like an average SEC QB. The arm talent looks average and he isn't anything special from an accuracy/touch/ball placement perspective, and he's obviously not a running QB either. Under the right system and coaching I'm sure he can be good, but he's clearly not a "5-star" gamechanger at QB.

I’m with you. His biggest issue is consistency IMO. He gets lazy with technique. Physically he’s not going to wow anyone. But him developing some consistency would go a long way. He makes some throws that are impressive as hell (especially the back shoulder stuff) but then he will miss a wide open one. He’s a four year guy for sure, probably five year now. Hopefully he can start making the easy throws in that time.

The concerning part is that clearly Gus’ offense requires a game changer.

Yes it does. Because Gus is an average coach. He needs a star to bail out his bad coaching.

Compare him to Bruce Pearl.

Do you think Bruce is playing with top 10 talent every year?

Then how does he win?

1. By taking personal responsibility for his team not being prepared and apologizing on camera.
2. By CHANGING his offense and defense to fit his kids strengths.
3. By telling his kids “I believe in you and I am going to make changes to help you succeed”.

Gus just looks up another Waffle House play card and tried the same plays with players that don’t suit his system.

Yet, despite a decade of watching Gus (without Cam and Nick Marshall) - we still have fans who blame our QB.

The dude who can’t beat out Terry Wilson?

Uh, doesnt Gatewood have to be cleared by the NCAA first? Just checking for a friend. Give Gatewood a year and check back with me.

Seems like the question has been answered, no he will not live up to the hype.

Didn't Gatewood get cleared, played in relief roles and still ride the bench?
