Losing seasons at AU = people getting fired

Are we using the roster excuse or not? We can fire the OC/DC because of a losing season but not the HC? That logic makes no sense.

I have no problem with the decision to fire them. Although I think the defense did well enough for Roberts to keep his job but not terribly upset if they fire him. But you have to look at your initial hiring decisions if you fire them a year later.

Who is saying it? The only thing close to this I can find is JGT saying a what if.

Blackerby from Locked on Auburn said in his show today not to be surprised if there are more changes this weekend, including another coordinator, as well as position coaches. He said he would expect some news to drop around tip off for the basketball game. Not sure if he’s knowledgeable or not, although I find him to be sorta annoying to be frank. But I think that’s where it’s coming from.

I’m not on the fire Roberts train. Was just stating at AU when losing seasons happen something has to change.

Now if Roberts is a complete dipshit to work for and makes the staff miserable I could see it. But his production was decent this season. I think he’s a solid DC.

Similarly, I don’t mind Freeze choosing to cut ties and fail fast with a hire that doesn’t pan out.

His opening presser after behind hired included him bragging about all the incredible coaches that were blowing up his phone to work with him. He didn’t have to say that. But he did, and because his hires were not very splashy looking last season, it continues to look worse now that we’re churning coordinators again.

His Liberty coaches have been alright, though. Kinda funny IMO.

Only problem I have with Roberts is 4th and 31. Other than that he has been pretty good. Then again, I know nothing going on behind the scenes (how he is to work with, etc.).

No but it helps off set the loses to coaching buyouts.

I don’t put NMST on Roberts. Sure we should have played better but we couldn’t move the ball so kept giving it right back to them.

I’d Freeze wants a change at DC fine I’m all for it.

Is there any solid evidence that Roberts will be fired?

Firing your OC and DC after your first year isn’t a great sign

Unless neither hire was lauded across the SEC as really good. Most people said who?? To both hires.

You have to remember that Freeze came from a decade of (out of coaching and at Liberty.) Those are not coaches that are hard to replace.

If it weren't for 4th and 31, I may could agree.

Never understood this logic.

Why can’t the defense force a 3 and out and give the ball right back? Then they would not get tired at all.

Reminds me of the year Kevin Steele was DC for Clemson and got his walking papers after giving up 70 points to WV in a bowl game.

If I recall correctly, Swinney wasted no time and fired him immediately after the game
