Not sure I've ever woken up this fricked up on Monday AM, but guess life starts early at the trailer park?

Other than Bruce Pearl, name one HR hire we've ever had. And we hired Pearl when no one else in the country would have. So please spare us your further emotional dribble on the hiring of some coach you've never heard of until this weekend.

Thanks,

Lot of Googling going on to figure out who he is, that much is obvious

Had to Google both of them.

Roberts is 55 and his resume shouts of a guy bouncing around to odds and ends football jobs. Montgomery did a solid job at Tulsa.

Hopefully it’ll work out.

The coordinator hires are underwhelming, especially after Hugh built expectations up during his initial presser. Hugh’s ncaa trouble and moral failings didn’t bother me much, but I’ve always regarded him as a bit of a hill billy huckster/carnival barker type. These hires reinforce that image for me. I was hoping he would target a staff that would get me off the fence regarding his hire, but he hasn’t done so. Next chance, killing it in the portal and on the recruiting trail.

So it's impressive to go from D2 to D1 in 30 years but a problem to go from high school to D1 in 5? Got it.

I never said that was a problem, Poker. All I said is that was impressive to jump 1 division (practically 2 considering FCS does its own thing)

Some of us in the trailer park get to work before you enjoy your morning shite.

Irrelevant

I can name many shitty DC/ OC hires. Toeing the company line on any swinging dick hire is pretty reckless.

Bless your inconvenienced heart. I am the heartburn to your extra large order of chili cheese fries. Deal with it.

You'd be surprised how quickly I have to shite when I wake up in the mornings.

Especially when I've eaten fried shrimp and crepes at Ihop.

The cleansing after coffee and dairy creamer gets me feeling right in the mornings and I’m ready to go 1-0 each day. Fortunately my double wide has a great sanitation system always up for the task.

One of those big names from his texts, maybe. Not a guy fired last month as a DC at a school traditionally below AU in the pecking order. He may turn out to be great, but very underwhelming to me. I’m glad it gets you excited though. I’m a little jealous.

Not here to start anything. I respect everyone's opinion but my friend you are just wrong.
Coach just hired two excellent coaches. Recruiting is on fire, Coach is driven and loves where he is at and will work harder than anyone.
I am excited for the future.
My goodness the negative waves.

Well yes, of course but there's more to the story though. what quality coach was coming in for year 2 of Harsin under those conditions?

To be fair those two he had in year 2 are who he wanted to be in the position year 1.

Saban tends to hire fired coaches, it works out OK for him. We are a University of second chances.

Saban tends to hire guys that were at a higher level and get fired. Sark was a HC at USC. Kiffin was HC at USC. OBrien was HC at Texans. Those make sense. Getting fired from DC at Baylor then going to be DC at Auburn doesnt.

Getting fired as HC of Tulsa then hired at Auburn does make sense.

X’s and O’s wise he is elite.

Y’all keep saying this but based on what. And don’t give me his video or the fact that there’s a coaching book out there. I want to see results somewhere hes been that show that.

He has had ONE decent year and got fired.

I feel like you’re saying this as in he had all good years then got fired for having a only decent year. But looking at the rankings of his defense, he’s had all bad years and one decent year.

Who was better? Kelly? Twill?

Just because we don’t have a list of people better doesn’t mean it’s a good hire. I’m just judging him on his merits alone.

2021: Big 12 title in 2021 as his defense led the conference in interceptions (19), turnovers gained (27), turnover margin (0.93) and defensive touchdowns (3). Efficiency: 2018- Louisiana - 120th
2019 - Louisiana- 75th
2020 - Baylor- 27th

Auburn now has on staff not 1, but 2 top 25% grade qb coaches in all of FBS since 2009

Look at the @CoachPMonty metrics!

He's graded top 5% as a qb coach and in his 5 yrs as a qb coach his guys AVERAGE a 165.413 qb rating with 9.49 yds/attempt ??

Looks like this analytics service was used to hire Montgomery. Would like to see their analytics on Roberts.

Very debatable

Recruiting is on fire,

Tells me your a little to reactionary for my liking. Moving in the right direction but I wouldn’t say on fire.

If you want to be positive, that’s fine. But it’s just funny to me how a coach only makes correct decisions in his first year and anyone who questions it is wrong.

i didn’t know if Steele would be worth a damn either when we hired him. Who knows

Steele had just coached Arden Key up to Freshman All American status. And was in charge of a LSU defense that finished 9th in total defense. LSU did not want to lose him.

Not saying this guy is a bad hire. Like you I don’t know but Steele had just coached a top10 defense and was wanted by his previous staff. Our new DC while wanted by other programs, was nevertheless fired by someone he mentored…

Freeze and Grimes don’t run the same offense so that may be a moot point.
