Okay well invite Lashlee then
At this point, I think that's a given. They will throw around some big names, get us all worked up, then Lashlee, or equivalent will get off the plane.

Lea was struggling at Vandy until the New Mexico St gang came in.

Well, that puts him up a notch on Freeze. At least he has the ability to hire a competent staff.

I'd rather just stick with Freeze.

You’d stick with a sub 500 coach with zero ability to change/adjust?

Lea is under 500 but at least he is showing an upward trajectory/growth and has handed of DC duties this season. And he can evaluate talent.

Agree on that.

Even if they were a package deal with Pavia, he had the foresight to see they were good. Probably all he had to do was watch their tape agai st us.

Who out there is above Lea at this point?

You go after a really good coordinator, like ya know, Kirby Smart was, Dan Lanning was, Ryan Day was, Lincoln Riley was (before he proved he was soft as hell). Hell, Dabo wasn't even a coordinator.

And the massive buyout situation is another reason you go with an top OC or DC, that's not an issue there. If you are going after a current head coach you need to be going after someone from a smaller school (like Washington did grabbing Deboer from Fresno St).

Doing a massive overpay to pull a coach from an established school is extremely unlikely to work out. While back in the day you could grab someone like Saban, Urban, or Tubs willing to make a move up from a decent but not as financially committed school, that is nearly impossible now due to the huge tv contracts. Schools like Utah, Ole Miss, and even Indiana have plenty of tv money to pay their coaches 8+ million.

I've had enough of hoping the bad HC hires some good assistants/coordinators to cover up his incompetence.

Cignetti, Sumrall, maybe Lebby.

Cignetti
Dude, it's been posted all over our board, many times. Cignetti just signed a massive extension. Unless Yellowman wants to make that hire the largest output of money in AU athletic history, it's not happening.

You haven't had enough of the Gus bus, you want some more with version 2.0?

I'd rather take the chance on a top assistant and have a chance to be truly elite rather than pay Lashlee a big contract and buyout when he is just another 8 win coach if he was in the SEC rather than the mediocre conference he's in now.

I dont give a shite how old he is or how much he would cost. If youre serious about winning games and making something out of this mess of a football program we have, thats what you do. You wanna flip the script on your reflection after the nepot hire in basketball and the disaster coaching search that ended with Hugh freeze. That's what you do. If the people with money say no then that's on them.

How much are you donating to the cause? I'd love to have 500 acres with a 5000 sq. ft. house sitting in the middle of it, and 10 bikini-clad dimes cooking, cleaning, and waiting on me, but as of right now, the bank account won't make that happen.

IF we could hire Cignetti away, we would have to pay off Freeze's contract, payoff Cignetti's massive buyout, AND PAY HIM NORTH OF 7 MILLION A YEAR. I don't know what dream world you live in, but if that happened,,,,,,,,, ;let's just say, you'd have a better chance of shitting out a good coach.

Yeah, he makes 8 mil a year with a 1 mil a year retention bonus, over 8 years with them owing him 85% of that no matter what. So we'd be looking at like 10+ mil a year over at least 8 years fully garuanteed, and he has a 13 million dollar buyout for resigning on top of that.

Gus is pissing me off. This offense looks so much like 2013. Why tf did he have to try and prove everyone wrong with a pocket passer will forever be the question.

Gus is a damn good OC. It took him getting his ego smashed to get him back to doing what we all knew he could do well.

Do you remember when he didn't recruit an interior OL for 3 years?
