Don’t apologize.

Ahhh yes. The appeal to the phantom "boosters" to support your weak position.
You do realize you are taking a pretty hardline stance here. Harsin's position regarding the vaccine will not change tomorrow, next week or in 10 years, so, thus, your position on his leadership should never change regardless of how the team does moving forward. Should he when a championship in the next 5 years, I fully expect you to return and continue to call him an insufficient leader due to his "handling" of the vaccine issue in 2021.

There has been worse. Twitter is little like Netflix- have to find your niche, the group of people that makes your life better. Fintwit is awesome and free. Some followers are awesome. Just because I’ve seen controversy doesn’t mean shite and really irrelevant. I don’t like Jack. frick him.

Getting back to the presser, Chandler Wooten?
Wooten is going to be a starter....which blows my mind because he hasnt done anything notable sans sitting out last year. I honestly have no idea what to expect from Wooten, however, the entire team voted him captain...
Wooten may be a beast?

He played well two years ago and showed a lot of promise. Was very good in pass coverage.
With how our defense is, starter is an odd term. In certain bases, yes he is. Regardless, he will play plenty.

He talks about him in detail. Even says he questioned his commitment until he met with him, saw how hard he worked, and how much of a leader his is.

I mean what more detail did you want him to go into yesterday?
I didn’t. Guessing you mistook me laying out his strategy for criticizing it. I’d prefer even less from him so that reporters can ask more detailed football questions but neither of those things are going to happen

The only think he glossed over were specifics on what players and coaches were out with Covid, which would have been a HIPAA violation.
HIPAA prevents your doctor, their office, your medical insurance, and other covered entities, from releasing your information without your permission. It does not cover anyone else unrelated to those entities from releasing it. It’s a very limited law that isn’t very well understood.
He’s in his right to not share medical specifics on anyone. HIPAA just isn’t the reason why. It’s his choice or the department’s policy, the university’s policy, whatever.
And all that is to say, I don’t want him to release that information either. Y’all can miss me with all your Covid takes just because I pointed out that Harsin is smart about his interviews. I’m one of the few here that seem to be interested only in football

Nah, I'm completely capable of admitting I'm wrong and evolving my opinion.
Let's say he builds a strong program and develops a team and wins the title. I'll be happy to admit I was wrong. I'll have no problem admitting that and will do so.

You are correct HIPAA is limited and can be complex, but it was expanded in its scope under the HITECH Act which was a part of Obamacare, and now business associates of covered entities can be subject to direct liability, and this could include a university.
But FERPA, rather than HIPAA, is the actual legislation that would impact AU's and Harsin's right to disclose any medical records of current players/students. It may even implement many of the consent provisions of HIPAA directly, but its similar in its scope, so it is not merely Harsin's decision on this. He does have legal restrictions placed on him.

It might apply to certain employees of a university but it would be extremely minor in scope and wouldn’t cover a head football coach. But that wasn’t really my point in all of this

At no point is anyone here demanding from Harsin specific information on players related to Covid or vaccines. That should continue to be said because someone is going to come across this without knowing what we’re talking about here: Some random poster just found a sentence I wrote last night about Harsin’s clever presser strategy, isolated it out of context, and went down a Covid rabbit hole with it

Disagree. Auburn is not conducting services for a Covered Entity (We do not work for a Covered Entity) and therefore is not a Business Associate of a medical facility. Here is one article, there are many... (Coaches and others like to blame HIPAA/HITECH) .... If athletics departments were covered, the Bama would be in violation for saying 100% vaccinated.
DeadSpin
“Usually the team physician is not covered by HIPAA as it relates to the team,” said Lynn Sessions, a partner at BakerHostetler and a healthcare privacy law expert for more than 25 years. “That would essentially be within an employment context that the team physician is providing care to the player, so as it relates to the employer that is a different kind of relationship.”
Athletes though, agree to share health information with their employer (even if the athlete visits an independent medical professional) when they sign a contract with a team. The reason we know so much about these athletes’ injuries on any given day is that once the information is provided to the organization through the athlete, or through the team physician, the organization is free to publicize it. Pro sports teams are not covered entities under HIPAA. Rather, they are merely considered employers. But should they be? After all, teams employ doctors and other health professionals and handle employee medical information in a way other employers don’t.
