Probably won't happen, but what brainless list and what a nightmare it would be.
Kelly - We already have Durkin, and Durkin is not looking to leave. Just pay him more as he has earned it, and as far as him leaving, a lot of schools are eliminated as they lack top notch NIL support.
Drink - LOL, he just started to turn it around after he hired a particular OC. Right in front of your face - before / after.
Sumrall - Other than having no big time experience, today's game does not favor a generalist, program builder. We need consistent technical expertise. Furthermore, Auburn does not require a rebuild or more toughness, we simply need coaches who know what they are doing (really, on just one side of the ball). We have good players and I don't see lack of effort. Plus he'd have to replace 90% of his current staff, as most don't belong at Auburn - relative to what Auburn is capable of attracting.

Definitely needs be a hire that gives an edge on either side of the ball. Seems like CEO style coaches develop from schematic advantage coaches after they have reached the mountain top.
Most programs will have a GM now which will fulfill that role anyways.

There’s a reason he’s not a HC in the SEC. If he didn’t have ties to Auburn his name wouldn’t even be in the conversation. Just like it’s not for Florida Arkansas LSU etc

My wishlist would include( in no particular order)-
1. Sumrall
2. Franklin
3. Coach O
4. Key
5. Durkin
I’m sure there are others I’m not thinking of. Any of these could be monumentally good OR monumentally horrendous.
We gotta do something to change our mojo. It’s almost like we made a crossroads deal back in 2010 and the time ran out at the end of the Natty game in January 2014. Since then, we have been paying for whatever deal we made. This has been the most un Auburn like stretch that I can remember, and I have been watching since 1982.
We used to be the most hard nosed physical team in the SEC. We were never the most talented, but we would hit you and never give up. We didn’t always win, but teams knew they were in for a 60 minute fight.
Then, there was the mystique of Jordan-Hare. One of the toughest places to play in all of college football, especially at night. Opposing teams and coaches feared playing there. They said it was haunted.
Now? That’s all gone. It’s all been taken away. This is what the PTB need to focus on when our inevitable next hire is being made. Someone who can bring the fear back.

Would love to have Urban. He would bring back the nasty physicality and toughness that’s been missing.
Could you imagine what he could do with this roster??

Urban's workouts he put Florida through definitely inspires confidence that he can extract every ounce of potential from raw meat.

Kelly would be an embarrassing hire. There's not another SEC school that would even interview him. Whoever put his name out there should be escorted out of the room so that the adults can find a real head football coach.

I’m not sure Key would leave his dream job at Georgia Tech. He played there and seems to be a good fit. But Money talks so you never know.

Charles Kelly being the leading candidate with James Franklin out there tells me AU is not serious about turning this shite around.

We should go after Gruden. He wants to get back in coaching and says he likes Auburn. He wouldn’t be cheap though.

Nobody worth their salt is going to be cheap. Rumors out there that Lane is gonna get north of $13MM per year. Cignetti just got paid bigly. Rhett just got paid bigly less than a year after signing an extension. These coaching salaries are whatever. Its the insane buyouts that piss the average fan off.

Hire
Mike Bobo from Georgia. He’s doing a hell of a lot with nothing at Georgia. Auburns had good luck with former Georgia players coaching at Auburn. History does repeat itself.
