Didn't he have the reigns to play calling then give it up then take it back and now he is giving it up again?

Where has it been stated Gus is giving up play calling? I have not seen that anywhere.

The only thing I've seen about Chad's coaching responsibilities at AU is that he will be coaching QBs. The OC is just title only. Although Gus should be comfortable enough with him to accept input from Chad.

Interesting. He didn't call plays at Arkansas, right?

I would rather Morris not call plays. We left a lot of points on the field with Gus calling plays. Nobody knows his O like he does.

Let Morris work with the QB's and help game plan during the week. Put him in the box and let him see if the D is leaving things open.

You were always going to eat crow. Do you really think Morris was going to take an OC role where he didn’t get to call the plays and run it his way?

I’m sure Gus will interject himself, but overall there is no way Morris was coming as a figure head. Wouldn’t make sense at all E with his resume.

Oof.

Not sure how I like that. I thought Gus had kind of gotten back some of his mojo in that regard. I didn't have too much issue with play calls this season like the previous 2 or 3 seasons. The plays were there, but just lacked the execution this year for the most part.

The worst thing Morris ever did was give up his play calling responsibilities.

Maybe not but I learned a long time ago nobody in this world is as stubborn & at times completely illogical as Gus so that clouded my opinion.

I know but again Gus. He doesn't make sense most of the time so when stuff makes sense I expect him to do the opposite.

You're over analyzing my post. I took the blame earlier with my eating crow post. I didn't have to make that post. Heaven forbid in my other post that I explain my thinking.

Big, if true. Really, though, I think that might be a really good thing.

I’m a fan of this. This is how Auburn football sucks me right back in.

History tells me Chad will call plays until we have a poor offensive performance, think UF or LSU or uga 2019. Gus will insert himself at some point and then take play calling over again for 2021. Rinse and repeat.

We make way too much of playcalling on this board

Agreed it’s the same for all Auburn boards. Gus’ play calling wasn’t the issue this season. The poor offensive line was. We have an average offensive line and we’re pretty damn tough team to beat. We may have won out.

I said that when everyone got a boner from Chip and Rhett being allowed to call plays. They are Gus's plays. Doesnt matter who calls them in.
