Point to one wise decision that Steve Leath has made at AU ? The coronation, the CGM contract, the millions wasted on the pres mansion, him wanting to fire Bruce... This idiot should have never been hired in the first place. AU can do much better.

Alumnus checking in, have no idea why we do anything. Not in the know about anything, just subtle brag thread for me.

I think the question should be why was Steve Leath hired to begin with?

Is my memory failing me or was it reported that all the repairs and upgrades to the pres mansion were budgeted and scheduled before Leath was hired?

I mean, I don't like the guy, but I also don't wanna go Full JJ on him either, blaming him for everything under the sun just because I don't like him.

I remember his hiring being secretive and behind closed doors amongst the BOT.

I don't know what they saw in the guy, other than ISU being a land-grant university.

The guy looks like a used car salesman, and seems to behave like one as well. I loved how he threw AD Greene under the bus and said he "supports Greene's decision to keep Gus in 2019" as if he had no part in CGM's ridiculous contract

He reminds me of Sonny Galloway....ISU was not upset when he left if memory serves me.

Not sure he’s done anything wrong or bad but since most of you just complain about something ALL the f’ing time, I will assume he is just terrible.

Who care if he spent money on the mansion and Gus earned his money with his two back to back wins over two rivals best teams they have ever fielded.

Are we sure Leath hired Greene or did somebody tell him to?

It isn't that he spent money on the mansion

It is that the manion is rumored to be $10-20mil over budget + Leath made some very expensive personal additions

What has Greene done so far? I hope he's successful as hell, but the paint is still wet on this guy.

I had such high hopes for the guy but the Malzahn deal might just sink him

The salary doesn’t bother me near as much as that fricking buyout. Gus would have signed a new contract with 1/2 that amount which is why I would have started even lower. He obviously doesn’t know when he’s shown his cards. The guy was a fricking retard for ever questioning Pearl. Pearl is the only reason we have a program right now. If Leath didn’t understand that the day he made the comments to the media then I don’t think he has the competence to be a president.

I completely agree. He can’t blame the deal on anyone else

Other than not frick up yet, he’s done enough appearances to make me feel like we got the right guy representing Auburn athletics. He needs to brush up on his interviewing skills but he’s a former athlete that is also a savvy businessman.

I believe he has gone to bat for Pearl although I may have misread that. .I know for sure he helped Pearl recruit during those dark times. I may be wrong but from what I know about him I think we hit a home run

Leath should not have been hired, but finding a good president is difficult.

Mansion, went way over budget because of changes demanded by the president. His wife is a piece of work.

Malzahns contract, was approved by the compensation committee, but not the whole board. That is OK, but Learth did not listen to others on the board.

The Coronation was over the top and expensive. Not the Auburn way and rubbed a lot of folks wrong.

Ran a lot of senior Auburn management off including the Provost.

He brought in his Lackey from ISU who then quickly left.

To calm the waters, Auburn hired the dean of business as Provost. Then listened to folks and the new COO is Auburn Man, General Burgess. These two moves helped him.

Bottom line, never hire a yankee.

ETA: Tried to fire CBP, that is unforgivable!

wait just a minute...

I can understand the legitimate concerns you have with Leath but I hope your were tongue in cheek ...and Greene is doing a pretty good job so far and he is a damn yankee too...and so am I . lol
