When was the last time our program had an identity? This past season was a glaring result of a HC and staff whose main focus was signing guys for rankings and not concerned with what type of locker room presence they brought with them.
It sucks losing some of these guys but you cannot have a locker room full of guys who don’t give a shite about the university.

I think this is always the talking point when shite goes south. I dont believe any of that BS. Guys were brought in and according to the info we had, they were the right guys. We were all celebrating every single one of them.
Now that they failed and shite went south, we say we were just stacking the starrs. Same shite happened with Gus's classes didnt work out.
Not meant for you personally either. IT is just a talking point that is ridiculous. Why cant we just be truthful? We brought the guys in, we thought they were going to be a great mesh but they were not. Every single one of them was celebrated last year.
This is a result of coaching, players not developing and just being a bad progream. Hugh bought the right players. Just nothing happened after that.
None of them give a shite about the school. Those days are gone/. We can not have it both ways. When you get hired hands, you need to get your moneys worth out of them. We didnt. Its not the same as many of us grewup with or want. Its a different game my friend. And our expectations need to change with it.
And we had a idenity in 2017 and some in 2019.. Since then, its been this new game that is a different animal.

Our identity was we find a way to lose.

Maybe we dont need 20 bc Golesh's USF might not have been as good as Cig's JMU but he's got a war chest that Cig didn't have. Regardless we need all the best guys from USF
Yeah, 20 would be super excessive, but there is nothing wrong with taking the best guys from USF as transfers. Take Brown and three WR, and 5-6 more and that's fine. As long as we are getting top tier transfers elsewhere that works pretty well, particularly on the OL

Too bad we can't buy Iowa's entire Online.

The last time I remember Auburn having a true identity was 2010. Everybody knew what we had and what we were gonna do after about game 2-3 and they couldn’t stop it anyway. I could make the argument for 2013 as well but it was a little more by committee with mason and Marshall.

Not 2013? What about 2017?
Edit did not see 2013 comment.

Get the big guys outta the way early too. Then let the skill guys then defense fall in place.

I’m sorry but 2013 was more identity than 2010. Hell, we ran 3 plays on offense.
There were some other years after that where we had a true identity. But it’s been so long and you’ve been doing so much the last five years that you just don’t remember. And that is understandable.

2013 was peak point in life. Marshall was a wizard and expectations were low, but week by week it became more obvious how good they were. I felt like they were destined to Win the NC by end of the year. Gosh, Winston is still my top 5 most disliked athletes because all of the miracles that season for Auburn it should have been capped with a Championship

I give Marshall the credit but Tre Mason was magic in 2013. Im not sure Auburn has had that good of a back in 40 years.

Neither of these guys have seasons like they had without Greg Robinson. He was the single most important player on that team. He didn't deliver blocks, he plowed through lines and created holes you could drive a truck through.

Maybe Golesh is thinking take 2m from deuce and 2m from Coleman and out it towards the J. Smith. That's what I imagine Coleman could be with his own effort

Jay Jacobs would have wrote Golesh a blank check and said go get them mitts.

Possibly. He could have been good in this era of CFB

We are pissing away talent and not making bowl games.

The talent you speak of are the ones responsible to get us to a bowl game.
That talent failed Auburn. Just like Cam Coleman did on the last drive of the Iron Bowl. That was not even close to his only failure. We have to stop holding the hired hands with soft gloves. They failed over and over. Did I not read 10 drops and two fumbles in that one game? Geez. That is fricking pathetic and they should be called out for it.
There must be expectations in this new system. Just like we expected slimy Hugh to do. He got fired for not producing. Our high priced receivers did not do the thing that they were hired to do. Catch the ball and not fumble it

That “talent” you speak of never lived up to its potential. Whether it was coaching, lack of motivation or pride, or simply not caring about what the jersey on your back represents, these guys were just fine with 5-7, so long as the checks kept clearing and the coaches let them do things their way.
I sincerely believe that AG is going to instill a culture of accountability, discipline, and mental and physical toughness to this team, which is something that we’ve been sorely lacking for years.
The “talent” thats leaving? They’re obviously not buying in, so I’m glad they’re leaving. They won’t be around to divide the team.

I think it’s the tip of the iceberg in terms of what is coming to college football. Large amounts of cash to talent by and large does not produce results. The collegiate game is operating with zero guard rails, and no enforcement mechanisms. The market value of 99.99 percent of these athletes is inflated bullshite driven by the initial belief that money buys loyalty and roster stability. It doesn’t. What you are witnessing is teams adjusting to what is essentially a short term market of 1 season and the money in turn is going to adjust downward. If I as a team GM have zero guarantees that you will be here past the end of the season then I am paying you accordingly. Let someone else overpay for a wr that didn’t produce when the game was on the line.
