Have any players tweeted or IG’ed “he told us he turned AU down and he’s staying” yet ?
Its probably against team rules. But if he had said he was leaving then I bet it would be all over the place out of anger bc they wouldn't care.

He’s not going to tell the team he’s leaving the night before their rivalry game, regardless if he is.

I feel like the players would be leaking it if he was for sure staying - I mean why not?

Yes. That’s called an escape hatch.

Still, it does seem like a reversal in momentum favors Ole Miss.

Quit panicking people… From 1998…

quote:

"As far as I know right now I'm going to be coaching (at Ole Miss)," Tuberville said. "There's nothing to say. I'm not looking for a job. I told everybody that. ...Now we have to wait and see what happens." Auburn's head coaching position opened on Oct. 23 when Terry Bowden resigned after a 1-5 start, which included a 17-0 win at Ole Miss. Bowden resigned in the midst of Auburn's worst season since 1952.

Keeping it real on here. If we can’t pull a coach from ole miss that’s a sad state of affairs for our program.

I don't follow them but they were using the player(s) as sources for what he said. Its why I said it's probably against the team rules and get them in trouble for posting. Plus they have nothing to gain by saying he's staying publicly. He may even be telling them they are going to pull a fast one on us at the last second to make them feel tight and he seems the type to talk like that.

Plus if he said he was leaving it would likely make players post just out of anger towards him. But I don't see him telling them he's leaving til after the game tomorrow at the earliest.

This is one of those time I would really like to know who knew what and for how long before we announced our next coach.

We all felt uncomfortable about how far out we were from this all happening to begin with.

The reporter blew it up and caused Kiffin an uncomfortable situation. Sounds like his kids joined the equation and he’s just decided 9.5m raise with promises of better NIL and I’m sure money to go after assistants so you stay. He gets to make that reporter look stupid.

I think there is enough smoke for me to say Kiffin is staying. I will at the very least be very shocked that he comes now especially if the reports he told players he’s staying is true.

I didn’t like the timeline and the way it was setting up but here we are. I believe we will be moving onto other candidates.

Not exactly correct.

The most reputable ones said it was still not definitive.

Tubs told his players he was staying too, the night before the Egg Bowl.

I’m sure Sexton has advised Lane it will all be ok

Kiffin is coming to Auburn. Even the report of what he supposedly told his players included the caveat “unless I change my mind”. He’s playing with everyone because he loves the attention and wants his team to play well tomorrow without this hanging over his head. After the egg bowl he can tell them the truth “that he changed his mind” and get on a plane to Auburn.

Really we don't have anything to go on but hearsay from day one. Someone decided who we should go after and made them top picks and that turned into who we wanted (because Auburn never announced it) (Bo wanted Prime but nothing official). The only name that has changed from media's first predictions is Prime dropping off the map. They are still talking in circles "may but may not", "right now but could change", "no offer but will accept unless something changes", etc. In reality no one but Sexton, OM, Auburn, and the true candidates really know what's going on.

With the "insiders" talking in circles it seems they are just guessing and could be at everything. The entire situation could be completely different than what we are thinking and the media could just be painting a different picture of everything than what is going on and Kiffin is just having to respond as a coach to the rumors. Like Saban to Texas type rumors. All they can do is brush it off and deny (sometimes probably laughing at where the stuff is coming from bc it's so far off).

No one involved (including players) have publicly said anything that is a true sign of anything. It's so easy for a post or tweet to be taken as truth that no one knows what the truth is. It's hard to even keep track what part of the story came from where after awhile.

The media has set the date as Friday and if Kiffin and OM come out and announce he's staying it will give them the momentum back if they lose tomorrow and make them look better than Auburn all at once. That way out weights announcing it before then. Plus all Auburn can do is announce their guy or say they are throughly searching and not rushing to pick someone like Kiffin wasn't #1 whether true or not.
