Feldman might think it’s going to be Kiffin
quote:
With all of the perks that Auburn provides, Feldman believes that Kiffin would have a hard time turning down an offer to coach at Auburn if the opportunity arises.
“I think it would be really hard if Auburn goes after Lane Kiffin for him to say no,” Feldman said. “I just think he knows the potential of that job. Lane Kiffin is probably the safest option Auburn has.”

3) Joey Saltwater
4) Joey Freshwater, Jr.
5) Freeze

Bert Beliema and Mark Mangino.
These guys would make the committee weigh their success at Wisconsin, Illinois, and Kansas.

Jerraud Powers, former AU DB, is still plugged in and said he and a ton of former AU guys are coming to JHS this weekend to support Caddy.
When asked who he wants as permanent HC, he said Hugh Freeze. Said he'd be fine with Kiffin, but said he thinks Hugh is more likely.

quote:Well those that love losing big games and to Bama, UGA and LSU most of the time unite behind Kiffin. That's all he brings besides no defense. 8 or nine wins against state, Arky, Mizzou, vandy, and maybe UK will be the new norm.
Freeze and Auburn, cheaters united at last. Because that's what's coming with a Freeze hire.
Paying players isnt cheating anymore.

It doesn't say anything about either wanting the other.

The heat on Kiffin is rising, and it's looking like him and Freeze are separating above the pack right now. I've heard one person state that Lane wants the job.
JHead just posted an update on On3 and he stated the same thing re: the buzz right now. He's predicting Kiffin right now and says he feels pretty good about it as of today.
Which of course means it'll end up being someone out of left field hahaha.
Ole Miss losing to Bama this weekend would help. If they win then that complicates things most likely.

So it's ok to be ok with Bama winning since they can't win anything now right? Notice I stopped short of hoping they do.

I think it will be a "far down the list" guy that most of the boosters and power guys agree on. They are all probably as split on the top guys as this board. So I expect another "out of the blue" Harsin type hire.

Yep, and back here doing this all again in 3 years

quote:That's what I've expected. It's why I said they need to hire a firm outside the program to hire the best long term person and then let the coach they pick run the football program. That way no booster gets a say over another.

They'd rather stand on the sideline while we go 8-5 than sit in their seats and win 10+ games every year

I don't. Nothing about the way this is going looks anything like old Auburn, so I don't think there is much relevance there to draw from. If Cohen (who is running this search) says he has Lane Kiffin lined up, the boosters are not going to object. Period. Hugh Freeze is more complicated because Roberts needs to approve and no one knows how Cohen feels about him, but he's getting a lot of talk still so either he's being used as a smokescreen (possible) or Freeze is simply winning to much to make those guys throw him out as a candidate.
Everyone understands the position we're in with regards to importance of this hire, and actual leadership is finally in place. Again, they're not making these moves to end up at "well this guy likes X, and so and so likes Y...so let's compromise and get Charles Kelly!".
