It does bother me that Kiffin couldn't land a legacy like Manning. Not saying Manning is all that, but shite, grandpa and uncle went to Ole Miss. Kiffin is a QB whisperer, but dude chose Texas?
It’s pretty clear the Manning family encourages their kids to make their own way. That’s not a knock on Kiffin in anyway I’m my book. Neither Kirby nor Saban could close him either

Yeah, but didn't they spend big on a QB from USC in the portal? Still early too, he could flip

Kiffin has done well with portal guys but his high school recruiting hasn’t ranked super high. Behind Auburn even
Ultimately that’s secondary to results. Ole Miss was 10-3 last season and 6-0 this season.
And I think there’s reason to believe his recruiting would improve somewhere like Auburn.

quote:I get that, but Sark over Kiffin? Let's say they are both equal in coaching QBs. The hero worship alone at Ole Miss would be historic. Maybe he was thinking Kiffin wouldn't be there for his entire collegiate stay?

He recruited well at UT and USC. He would be fine at AU. Maybe not Prime level of recruiting but he’d put together a good enough staff and have good resources to use at AU

Arch will have that anywhere and Texas arguably the most of any school.
Being the “legacy” can add additional and unfounded pressure for both the player and the fans. Just ask Bo Nix

Arch Manning would have Elvis-like adoration at Ole Miss.
I'd love to hear the real story around why he chose Texas. No ties, under achiever school, coach with a very questionable past. No family ties at all to that school.

Because of Sark.
They find QB coaches they respect and follow them. Peyton followed Cutcliffe. Eli also coached by Cutcliffe.

That’s who coached both Peyton and Eli.
Arch likely wants to start his own path, as well.

Your right and look at the pressure Bo had placed on him by fans. Arch would be even worse.

Your insane if you think he won’t be a bigger name at Texas. It’s pretty fricking basic math - there are more Texas fans, ergo more students and hot coeds and way richer boosters. Trust me - they know who the kid is and just because his granddad didn’t go there, they’ll make him feel welcome.

I really don’t think it’s that hard to comprehend and not some nefarious deal - particularly with NIL. Texas hasn’t been great on the field but Arch will be a millionaire going there whether he’s makes it to the NFL or not.

Could be a lot of the same reasons Peyton picked Tennessee?

I’m so glad Benedict is being interviewed. He sounds like a home run

allin, who do you think is the front runner? I think both Benedict and Hartwell look pretty good on paper, but I'd be okay with McGlynn if it came down to that.
It will 100 percent not be Tim Jackson. President Robert’s does not want division. That is the only thing I am certain of. As to the other candidates, my gut says he will get someone from outside. Look for Rich to get a much bigger role, probable over BB.
