Similar situations but they seemed to execute the hiring process much better
Agree and I think overall, they have a better base program and institution and better talent left on the roster. Coach O had just won a natty but the outlook was bad for LSU with him and it was obvious. Just like we are now.
I dont keep up with LSU coaching searches but I bet they cant be as bad as ours in the past. It is not a strength for Auburn and it should be handled delicately

Lanier, thinking of LSU they are very similar. They’ve fired two coaches in last 5 yrs, Miles and O and lost both QB’s last week. They had a bad loss at FSU but at least fought hard and looked improved and well coached last night.

First lets hire a top AD. But before we fire and make another public stink by whiffing on candidates, I would prefer that we have replacement lined up. Aranda is my top choice. He can put together a strong staff and knows the SE. And yes I supported CBH but yesterday’s loss and performance on both sides of the ball was unacceptable.
I supported Harsin as well. I'm also generally slower to jump on any "fire coach ____" bandwagon. I knew that we were in a serious rebuild & a coaching change/culture change is going to be painful. Gus left some talent, but also left some serious deficiencies in the roster. Gus's and Harsin's team identity and culture are significantly different. Players leaving didn't concern me. But there is nothing to point at as progress. Show me one instance that Harsin has improved for the program.
This was the first game in a while that I just was looking at the clock, wanting it to end. Hopelessness for most of the entire second half.
We need a stellar hire at AD.
Those mentioning retread SEC failed coaches, WTF? I guess if you want a "proven" head coach, a "proven failure" checks that box. (i.e. Mullen, Muschamp, Miles)
My no list:
Mullen
Muschamp
Miles
Meyers
Gardner
Bill Clark
Steele
Heck, I'd love Aranda, but I've seen this play out a number of times. He's not coming, may not even be asked. I haven't thought about it enough to compile a list of folks I'd like.
I wouldn't be surprised at all is Lashlee is the guy, which is the most luke-warm/room temp hire.

Maybe take a look at Gary Patterson. He was interested at some point in the past and made the recent Texas game with Alabama very interesting. He should be able to recruit Texas.

I think Jeff Bezos would be at the top of my list.

Any chance we can get this thread stickied? We all know this thing won't shut down earlier than 500 pages...

So we gotta wait until next Sunday after the Missouri game?

Let's face it, the AD and HC hires were not good. We hired two guys that most Auburn people, never heard of, from programs that are several tiers below we are at, as an institution. I'm certain Green and Harsin are good guys, but neither were ready for kind of pressure that comes with that job.

We will just get Jones to do it.

Bill Clark
He's won everywhere he's been. What he did with UAB, was nothing short of miraculous. Never been fired as a HC. I have no idea what's going on with him, or why he resigned from UAB suddenly, so there's that.

My no list is exactly the same as yours. I too would love to see Auburn hire Aranda.

My no list and Bill Clark absolutely belongs in it.

Lanier I don’t t know if Harsin is a good fit or not. I like his hard work and serious attitude toward football. But I am starting to doubt that he holds on because of this game performance. The oline and qb positions are not SEC caliber and even the defense was an F. But without a homerun hire done before firing, we will just implode the program and set us beavk even more.

Sadly, probably.

We will beat hapless Mizzou by two scores and extend Harsins life a little.
