So its not the NCAA or the Feds he’s not cooperating with, its Auburn’s lawyers doing the internal investigation.

Auburn men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl is refusing to cooperate in the school's internal investigation into his program, and university officials have advised him that that his job is in jeopardy if he doesn't, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
Auburn officials retained a law firm to conduct an internal investigation after former Tigers associate head coach Chuck Person was arrested on Sept. 26 as part of the FBI's probe into college basketball corruption. Person was indicted on six federal charges by a grand jury in New York on Tuesday.

Fire his arse, you cannot have a employee that will not cooperate with a internal investigation. Any lower level AD employee would have hit the bricks long ago. I would guess we are having the lawyers draw up the wording so he can be fired with cause to avoid buyout. This probably also makes even more sense as far as JJ announcement. Golloway, Myers, and Pearl all shady all hired by JJ.

If the FBI seized my shite, I wouldn’t talk to them either, innocent or guilty.

Bruce would be smart to go silent...

Considering he is still employed, you absolutely can.

We knew who he was when we hired him

If Bruce can avoid NCAA penalties then I hope he stays. Auburn is not going to get a better recruiter and coach.

If a head coach will not cooperate with our own investigation how can he be trusted to run a clean program. Imagine if it was Chiz and staff not cooperating on the Cam investigation.

You're right, we could definitely not get a better recruiter.
But a better coach? Yeah, I think there are coaches out there Auburn could hire that would fail because they couldn't recruit the talent to Auburn that are likely MUCH better coaches than Pearl.

Simple..........
YOU DON'T RUN A CLEAN PROGRAM!!!! Winning programs don't run them, in a clean manner!!

Because the FBI is involved. I don’t think it’s that hard to understand why he’s not cooperating with an internal investigation right now.

frick the feds.....if I’m Bruce, I don’t talk to them either. It’s his right. He’s not gonna help them indict his assistant and run his program in the ground. frick that.

PAM Article: FREE CONTENT - 247
The trouble bubbling beneath the surface boiled over on Wednesday when someone leaked to ESPN.com that head basketball coach Bruce Pearl’s job could be in jeopardy because he refused to sit down and be interviewed by Auburn’s lawyers and by the NCAA.
The story said Pearl was “refusing to cooperate,” which isn’t exactly true. On the advice of his lawyer, he is refusing to talk as long as the FBI investigation that led to the arrest of former assistant Chuck Person is ongoing.
Pearl is accused of nothing. There is no evidence he is guilty of anything. Normally, he would be compelled to talk if the NCAA asked. But the FBI investigation makes this situation unlike any other.
Who leaked the story to ESPN.com? Who knows? There aren’t all that many candidates, because not many people knew about it. Why do some Auburn people love to run to national news outlets to air dirty laundry? That’s a question for another day, but suffice it to say that most of the trouble Auburn has faced in the past quarter of a century was brought down on it by Auburn people.

I'm sure Pearl lawyered up and was advised not to participate. This isn't your average NCAA compliance investigation, the FBI is involved. Anything he discloses to AU or NCAA could be turned over as evidence. He is being wise to stay quiet, even if it gets him fired. That's better than being in Chuck Person's shoes right now. I would also say that Pearl being uncooperative implicates him in this scandal unofficially...

I disagree. It could something as simple as, “didn’t you notice X player was wearing whatever or had bought whatever? Shouldn’t that have raised a red flag with you” type question. There’s no way I’d talk in an internal investigation right now. Also, Person’s actions in no way helped out our basketball program.

Nobody would say Person helped us. 2 of our 3 best players are currently ineligible. His greed wrecked any progress that Pearl & AU had created towards having a competitive team again.

If his hands were completely clean wouldn't he cooperate rather than lose his job?

I don’t think he thinks he’s going to get fired if he doesn’t talk to them.
