Think of it this way -

You have an ongoing criminal case against you for alleged charges - charges which you deny

Then you also have another civil case going on against you at the same time, stemming from the same situation

NO ONE is going to discuss matters in the civil case until the criminal is wrapped up

That's how I am viewing this. The criminal allegations are on going - hell we don't even know the FBI's full scope of the investigation.

The civil matter - the internal AU investigation or NCAA investigation - is also going on.

He's doing right to stay quiet until the FBI is done.

Again, frick those people at AU who leaked this stuff to the media.

I agree that Pearl staying quiet is best for him. I just hate that it is front page news on ESPN. His reputation combined with this doesn't speak well for his claimed innocence.

Sidenote: This story came from Schlabaugh, so it could all be complete BS. And it is the kind of story that AU is not going to refute whether true or false due to the ongoing investigation. Schlabaugh made headlines and the school's best interest is not to comment or refute, he wins regardless of validity.

? There aren’t all that many candidates, because not many people knew about it. Why do some Auburn people love to run to national news outlets to air dirty laundry? That’s a question for another day, but suffice it to say that most of the trouble Auburn has faced in the past quarter of a century was brought down on it by Auburn people.

It actually happens all the time, such as when defendants don't take the stand.

More importantly, anyone who cooperates with an investigation fully without representation is pretty stupid. There is no real advantage but a ton of ways innocent people can be screwed

For Bruce's case, Auburns investigation /action is trying to protect AU and not Bruce.

It isn't unreasonable to believe that some low level violations come out and NCAA accepts firing Bruce over that as the acceptable sacrificial lamb

I say that because it is exactly what happened at Tennessee. Bruce was fired not after BBQ scandal but because a failed drug test of a player. You better believe that was the blood sacrifice and bullshite minor violation to provide it
