Good to hear! Now, let's hope this bunch can build some chemistry. Hopefully, things don't come undone. You never know with so much change going on.

Seriously. It would have royally sucked to not have a decent basketball team to look forward to after the dumpster fire our Football season is going to wind up being.

Maybe Magwood is so good it convinced them to stay.

1-0. Keeping SWA was the win here. Tahaad and Keyshawn were never going anywhere. The coaching change and how it was handled caught them off guard and they aren't happy about it but they didn't have the options that people assumed players of their calibers would have. Neither plan to be in college next year so the amount of available destination where either could step into the role with the surrounding talent that they have here as mid year transfers isn't feasible. Then there's the NIL, most rosters are set and can't come anywhere near what we have invested so they would also had to have taken a little less. The only ones that made sense for them to transfer are the younger guys and the only one of those that would be highly coveted is SWA.

Not a fan of Hoke. He may have some info from time to time but he legitimizes way too many clickbait stories like this for my taste

I agree. Leaving now would also take leverage from players as players would desperately need to get picked up fast while coaches are already setting in lineups. That could result in NIL discounts.

You're forgetting that he "won" the press conference

I wasn't worried about Murphy, but there are a handful of schools with money, prestige, and an open roster spot that could have serviced Pettiford.

And Pettiford would be eligible in January

If they were for sure staying the whole time, why do we have players making tik toks celebrating them staying?

I guess it was all just a ploy to look like a win for Steven out of the gate.

Nor anyone else who transfers. That’s a lot to give up in a sport where one season makes all the difference. I suspect the timing of BP’s retirement was, in no small coincidence, related to this. It gave Steven the best chance to retain most or all of what looks to be a very talented group.

Yeah that was working for us for sure, but certain schools still had a strong case of “come practice for 3 months for this title contender, move into the starting rotation on January 3rd and play 20 games for us”

Duke is the only team that gave me pause with Pettiford but he needs to show he can be the man on a quality team to move up into the guaranteed money part of the draft and that wasn't going to happen there. They are loaded with one and done level talent

They wouldn't be able to practice until Jan though. I think UCLA was the only major school that was still early enough into the fall quarter to enroll.

Sucks but not a surprise with the coach change.

We really need a good season and see if Steven can become a dynamic personality
