Things I’ve heard the past few days.
Jovic is good. Better than they expected.
Magwood is coming along. Should be fine at back up 1 and give us 12-14 minutes a game.
Elyjah Freeman has struggled, but is starting to catch up, still expect a lot of growing pains for him this season as he adjusts to the speed. (More like Chaney Johnson season 1 than JP Pegues.)
Keyshawn Hall is good and he and Haad are building chemistry quickly.
Haad is really stepping up and becoming a leader.
Starting 5 will likely be
Haad
Overton
Hall
Jovic
Murphy
Nothing groundbreaking here, but my “source” feels pretty confident in this team.
Top 3-4 in the SEC and a top 4 seed is what he expects barring injuries etc.

AU BBall twitter had some clips the past day or two for these. Jovic just nailing like 15 straight catch and shoot jumpers. Good looking stroke.
Magwood had a sick little pull up 3 in a scrimmage.

Broome has really worked on his craft.
I never thought he was a solid three point option.
I was wrong.
Is his free throw shooting improving as well?

Appreciate the update. I expect Bashir to trend the closer we get to the season

And the free throw shooting?
Who is working with him now on his shooting?
The threes he takes now always seem to be in rhythm with good spacing.
I’ve caught some summer leagues action, and he looks better.
Did He just dominate the block in college bc he could?
Is the strength and conditioning, nutrition, etc., just that much better as a pro?
Or is it a total focus of his energy into becoming an NBA player making him put more work into the three point shot?

Have heard he’s still quite good offensively, but his defense needs a lot of work.

I suspect it is a combination of less pressure to be the guy, the offense not running through him in the post, better looks due to better spacing, and maybe most importantly......he got rest and time to heal up.
Johni was beat to hell down the stretch, and keeping up his role as the centerpiece of that offense probably stressed him further.
The ankle was never near 100%. I imagine everyone involved knew it wouldn't be until he could get some time off. Just having a few down weeks to rest and rehab it probably did wonders for his entire game. His shoulders are going to be his biggest concern, health wise, going forward.

Early in the season, I can’t remember who the opposition was, but I was worried JB would miss weeks.
Then against Michigan, Broome just delivered while playing hurt.
I guess a bad ankle and a bum should with high minutes took a big toll.
Do you think he will be a starter or a key bench player this season?

He will be a backup at best if embid is healthy. If he stays hurt like he always is Broome could sneak some good minutes

Whatever they have done, they have seemed to get the hitch out of his shot when shooting 3’s. That seemed to be the biggest issue he had. The times he just shot fluid, he did well. It’s when he’d do that weird slow shot that always missed.

He shot
.290
.354
.278
from three. We didnt fix anything. The people that called his three point shot a liability was just fricking retarded

Let's steer this back towards baksetball & recruiting. OT and PT have plenty of threads if we want to discuss this conflict in detail.
