If we did 7.4/7, this was Jay Jacobs final frick you to Auburn.

Yea, I don’t count the rant as a credible source

I am down with it. First, it isn’t my money. Second, our program is thumping right now. That incoming LBer class has potential to be one of our best ever.

Nah man, auburn can print money. Dropping an extra 3m/year on a coach will in no way delay upgrades, increase donation requirements, parking fees, etc etc

Combine that with Jay's incompetence and interference and you have a huge problem to overcome as a FB coach.
Jay Jacobs pushed both Muschamp and Steele onto Malzahn while his teams couldn't do anything offensively (ie: he saved his arse). Rodney Garner, Travis Williams...these are all guys that outside influencers drove onto the staff. Jay Jacobs may be an idiot, but what you need to realize is that if it were up to Malzahn we'd have Joe Lee Dunn and god knows who else patrolling the sideline for him while he and Lashlee locked themselves up in their little offensive echo chamber.
Yes, Jacobs and company "meddled". Should it not be obvious by now that Malzahn needed to be meddled with because he is completely oblivious to reality and what his own limitations are?

All of that sounds made up.

Malzahn had few coaching connections having been an inexperienced job hopper and the biggest question mark in us hiring him was whether or not he'd be able to assemble an SEC level staff because he wanted to bring the majority of Arkansas State's staff with him. I can tell you for fact that he wanted Casey Woods (who ended up taking an off-field position with us) as WR coach over Craig, who was a "good ol' boy network" "suggestion" hence all the eventual tension between him and Malzahn. Where do you think Travis Williams, a guy with virtually no resume but an Auburn background came from? You think Malzahn even knew who he was? Muschamp was a power move by Jacobs, you think Malzahn and his obvious ego wanted a former SEC HC and a guy who could easily overshadow him or even steal his job "sharing" the team with him? When he was first hired he wanted Arky State's DC with him, a move that obviously wasn't permitted.
You think its made up? He brought his under-qualified "son" with him as OC and it took a vice grip squeezing on his balls for what seemed like eternity to finally get him to make that switch, and that was basically forced on him as well.
Malzahn lives in his own little bubble. The SEC is a different animal and you need dogs on your staff to succeed. Malzahn, like other "mad scientist" system types (eg: Leach) thinks all the answers are in his head alone and its up to him to just tack together a couple guys who he likes/"feels comfortable with" to succeed.
He has been "meddled with". Given the shite he has pulled however over these years, can you seriously say that it wasn't warranted?

yeah but if that giant tv craps out it isnt gonna cost us $60 million just for the opportunity to buy a new one.

Ah the ole Auburn made up inside info

Agree with all of that. For all the shite Jacobs has taken, he has been relatively good for us, particularly the football program.
And Gus was nowhere near ready for the HC job when we gave it to him. He has shown growth though. I'm hopeful if he wants more control he is ready for it.

The deal is structured with raises every year of the contract, with it reaching up to $7 million per year near the end of the deal, according to a source.
Reaching 7 mill near the end. That i can deal with and sounds fair to all.

well now that it's been done I personally expect 10 wins ever year. Anything less than that is not worth that much money.

If Gus is in and this is done let's move on and get ready for UCF. They need their taints handed to them by our D and we need to hang 50 on them. Gus can restart the bus 1/1/18 and make any doubts go away.
I'd like to see the deal structure and I hope it has big incentives for winning the west and playoff appearances. I want Gus to succeed as I always did and it's time to show he turned the corner.
