So AMs roster is that much better than ours?

No it's not. A&M has unconventional methods though and that helps them early while teams are unfamiliar to that style of play.

Just realized that they only had 1 player that played any real minutes that was over 6'6".

Mercy me. What a mess.

Their roster is actually pretty mediocre. But yeah, having a system can help overcome that. The roster seems somewhat ill-suited to their style of play. I think Bucky can be successful there if he gets better athletes.

If he gets mid 4*s that dont mind pressing all game he will do work.

I am guessing elite recruits "aint got time for all of that."

My biggest disappointment is the fans. Nothing feels like more of an end of an era than seeing the gym so sparsely populated in crunch time. Give me more burnt fried memes.

I have a really hard time watching this team play ball. Hall is an absolute dog though

It is difficult to watch, especially following up the formula AU had going the last couple of years. It seemed like the team thrived without any one player being consistently dominant.

This year, we've just got to hope than Hall/Tahaad catch fire because the poor roster construction doesn't allow the team to win games.

This happened at plenty of midweek 8pm tipoffs for Bruce vs unranked teams. However, I did notice it didn’t seem that loud even when we were up 10.

Well then we are not the jungle supposedly- some home court advantage.

SP looked like he had something on the tablet. I wonder if they will release that if it shows the ball out.

Would love to see a good side angle blow-up with the clock inserted in sync.

The home court fans have been slacking since last year. A few of us we're complaining about how quiet the fans we're getting. A lot of it was blamed on increasing ticket prices which led to a lot of older people coming to games and sitting on their hands.. but I think some of it is also just some lazy entitled fans.

I think we had the 2 best players in the game last night, Hall and Pett.. the issue is neither of them are great and both have big holes in their game that are easily exploitable. After those 2 players though I don't think our roster is any better than theirs. Maybe VERY slightly, but not by much.

I see a few still trying to put everything on SP, but there is a reason Bruce quit.. he saw these players didn't have it. They are dumb, soft and lazy. They are mostly upperclassman, so its not going to suddenly change.. they are who they are.

I still say not a single player for this team would have started for last years team, and that's your core issue. Lack of talent.

If Auburn had an adequate PG on the roster

Bingo!!

We have no PG and no Centers. Very flawed roster.

I’m not defending Steven but think he will be a good coach but this is an extremely flawed roster. With Pettiford situation we are starting a true freshman PG and PF. Not a recipe for success.

Pettiford is really good at creating his shot but is terrible running an offense and is below average defender. I bet those NBA scouts that had him late first round are thanking Auburn for paying the big NIL so he didn’t stay in the draft. I’m not sure he’s a draft able player at this point.

The students are just getting back from Christmas break as well. Most go home for Christmas. I think classes start back tomorrow. So it’s been a different crowd but definitely been subdued most of the games this season. However our home noncon schedule has been horrible. NC state I think was the only quality opponent

The one they kept replaying in the stadium looked pretty clear that the ball was out. The other call that was strange to me was why we only had 0.6 seconds on the inbound. The replays on the video board from the side did not show the ball touching the rim on the free throw. If that was the reason they stopped play to review it I don't understand how they determined it hit rim and then how did they decide the time left would be 0.6?

We were all hoping it wasn't true but I think deep down everyone knew when Bruce left we would return to being largely irrelevant. I don't think we'll be the doormat worst program in the SEC like we were for so long but a mid program who struggles to make the program most years and measures success simply by doing so.

I think that is why I, and many, were so invested in last year's team. It represented the end of an era for Auburn basketball and honestly for Auburn sports in general. It probably will be the last successful team made up of mostly guys who had been at Auburn multiple years.

If we land the right coach anything is possible. I told you then Steven wasn't the guy. But of course Randy didn't listen.

I was reminding myself all last season that it would never be this good again. It was difficult at times because we looked so good so early which immediately raised the expectations through the roof but by the middle of SEC play I was honestly enjoying every game.

I was still hoping deep down Bruce would give us one more 3 year run with a new core and then just like that it was over.

I still think Steven could end up being a good coach but not a chance he gets anywhere near Bruce's level. And if he does end up being merely above average, I think it would be to his disadvantage being the guy following Bruce because with the nepo perception he will always be graded on a curve. Being Bruce's son afforded him the opportunity but the standard will cost him.
