And that’s ok.

If we compete for championships, I don’t care about NFL, however, talented players seem to care and that is the issue.

Maybe Bicknell can fix this.

Of course, 7 years in we are still fixing things.

I guess we will have a better idea at year 20 as to whether we should make a change or not.

Meanwhile, we can watch flea flicker whirly birds work against MAC and SunBelt opponents.

I realized after I typed it all out but before I hit submit. I figured I did all that typing might as well get a post out of it

Andy Dalton released by the Bengals. Have to think the Pats will be more interested in him now.

Pats passed on Dalton.

They must really believe in Stidham.

He signed with the Cowboys and he's a Texas kid, maybe he's just content to be backup for his childhood dream team. Or maybe he thinks he can give Dak a run for his money

I feel like if the Pats really wanted him they would have made the money. That plus literally ever other decision they made makes me think it will be Stidham. Cam will be the last domino but he's been available forever.

Going to be very interesting. Maybe the NFL receivers are fast enough to run under his deep passes.....

I'm sure he will be a bit more accurate when he's not running for his life every play

Patriots believe in Stidham

quote:

Friday, Rich Ohrnberger, who played in New England from 2009-11, shared his thoughts via Twitter.

"I’ve heard it now from A LOT of people close to the Patriots," he Tweeted. "They really believe in Jarrett Stidham. Like it or not, Stidham is not a cheap placeholder... he’s the future."

Added The Spun: "The Patriots appear to be rolling with the former Auburn Tigers quarterback in 2020. New England has seemingly passed on the chance to sign a veteran quarterback in free agency. Cam Newton is still out there, but it’s reportedly unlikely that Bill Belichick makes a move on the former No. 1 overall pick. He likes what he has in Stidham."

quote:

Here's more of what they're saying about Stidham, Auburn's starter from 2017-18.

quote:

-How high are the Patriots on Stidham at quarterback? NESN tackled that question. Said Doug Kyed: Here’s what I wrote after the NFL Scouting Combine: “What we do know is that (Jarrett) Stidham would be a better choice next season than overdrafting a player like Jordan Love or Jacob Eason when no one knows if they’ll even be better than Stidham long term.”

I stand by that. Here’s another nugget:

I was told after the draft that the Patriots like Stidham more than they liked Jimmy Garoppolo. And I know what you’re thinking: “typical Patriots spin.” That ain’t it. This isn’t coming from someone who stands to gain anything by pumping up the Patriots.

We’ll find out if the team is right to believe that or not. But it’s not insane. Stidham was a very highly-touted quarterback prospect after his first two starting seasons in college. His junior year was a bit of a disaster because Auburn’s offense was a mess. He still managed to show some potential.

But if that junior season had gone more favorably, then Stidham would have wound up being a first- or second-round pick rather than a fourth. Stidham played well in the preseason, and he continued to improve in practice throughout the regular season. The Patriots have only grown to like Stidham more since drafting him.

quote:

And, Kyed added this: Why are the Patriots going to give up on a player they think might be better than Garoppolo for a veteran QB like Cam Newton or Andy Dalton? Newton is a great player. Is he definitely better than Garoppolo right this second after missing most of the 2019 season? Dalton has more upside as a backup than Brian Hoyer. But in an ideal world, is he beating out Stidham? Not a chance.

I never thought drafting Jordan Love was realistic in the first round. And the Patriots weren’t going to take Jalen Hurts over their second-round pick Kyle Dugger. So, for now, they’re rolling with Stidham.

After years of spending top salary capital on a quarterback, the Patriots are using up less than $1.9 million worth of cap space on Stidham and Hoyer. That makes a world of sense while the Patriots are up against the cap.

quote:

Says Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, "Jarrett Stidham is the reason the Patriots didn't draft a quarterback in 2020:" Instead of drafting a quarterback, the Patriots traded the pick to the Los Angeles Chargers, opting to move out of the first round.

With Tom Brady leaving Foxborough after 20 seasons for Tampa Bay, why did the Patriots not prioritize an heir apparent? Two words—Jarrett Stidham.

"People around the league can't help but think of some great Patriots conspiracy that they'll trade up for a quarterback," an AFC pro scout said. "First it was Baker [Mayfield], then it was Tua.

Spoiler alert: They really like Stidham."

quote:

Yard Barker says the Patriots are confident they can win with Stidham running the offense: When Bill Belichick didn’t draft a single quarterback, it hinted at a rebuild starting in New England.

It turns out, Belichick passed on this year’s quarterback class for a very specific reason: The Patriots believe second-year pro Jarrett Stidham is ready to not only start but be the face of the franchise. Many expected the Patriots to draft a quarterback early in this year's draft. Utah State's Jordan Love was there the taking at the No. 23 selection, but Belichick traded down. When the second round rolled around, Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts was available and the Patriots passed on him. While 12 quarterbacks were drafted this year, New England didn’t take a single one.

The reason is simple. The Patriots love Jarrett Stidham. Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels don’t just believe they have a quarterback for the future to work with, they are confident he can win now.

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter
First-round pick Derrick Brown and the Carolina Panthers reached agreement on a 4-year, fully-guaranteed deal worth $23.621 million, per his agent
@RosenhausSports. Brown is the first player selected in the first round this year to agree to terms.

Former Auburn defensive lineman and current Green Bay Packer Montravius Adams was arrested in his homestate of Georgia this week, police records show.

Adams, who starred at Auburn from 2013-16, was arrested in Houston County and charged with three misdemeanors: possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, driving without insurance and suspended/canceled/revoked vehicle registration. Adams was arrested on Tuesday night by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and released from the Houston County Detention Center less than three hours later on $2,964 bond.

The Lions have picked up Adrian Peterson.

Lions RBs: Kerryon, Swift, Scarborough, and Peterson

Kerryon's carries are getting fewer and fewer...
