I’ve heard a lot of split reviews. But I will say a lot of pundits have been saying that this is bigger than just UW and is a PAC-12 must win. That the conference has to have Washington to win to maintain any relevance. I guess many think that will light a fire for them I guess

A 1-2 punch combo wouldn’t be bad this year

We have a proven commodity in returning a top 10 defense that will likely be top 5 this year.

You do realize that Washington returns more starters from a better ranked defense than Auburn in 2017 right?

They similarly have a Heisman contender QB along with a preasom All American RB and like 4/5 of their highly regarded 17 OL

I think we win this game but Auburn fans have gone full simple jack regarding their assessments of UW talent/quality

I know it will be a tough game. But I also know I'll take an SEC defense over a Pac whatever with a similar national ranking.

And if they return more starters, it's what 9 vs 8 or something similar?

And yes, we have more talent.

Washington’s defense was very good last year... and technically had better stats.

Auburn’s 2017 defense was better tho... only gave up more than 30 points once all year (to UCF and that included a pick 6)... UW gave up 30+ three times (3 of their last 4 games fwiw). Auburn also played better competition.

My point is that in the context of a "national media" expert making a 'safe' prediction, the defensive battle on paper is a push if not lean UW

Advanced stats FEI, AU is 5 v UW at 6. So it isn't like it is that clear no matter how you slice and dice

Want to say it is 9 v 7, but to the uninformed it looks real bad as we are losing 3 multi yr starter DBs and our leading pass rusher

Like I said, I think AU is better than UW and will win. So don't think I'm going all negatiger. I'm just pointing out this isn't anti Auburn as much as UW getting deserved hype

I'm just saying that on paper to "experts," UW definitely is the safe pick and that's actually reasonable based on stats/info out there

Looking back on it, it’s kinda nuts how consistently good Auburn’s defense was last year... played 4 games vs playoff teams... gave up roughly 17 ppg in those four games... and played some other elite offenses — mizzou, UCF, and ole miss.

I love your passion man. I do . But UCF whipped our asses last year and probably didnt have a 4* kid on the field. They laughed at our SEC Defense and our Gus Malzahn offense.

I dont think anyone is scared of us or our talent. This will be a very hard game for Auburn to win. If it were later in the season, I would be much more confident that we win. Right now, Im giving the edge to Washington by 3-4 points. If they come out on fire, we may be in trouble

I think it will help us because they would all be burned and shite, and really not in the mood to play.

So apparently this Dean injury news might be about the wrong dean. 5* LB Nakobe Dean suffered the injury described in the Jamel Dean rumors. Marcello last night said doesn't know for sure but saw that Jamel Dean won some competition on Fortnite (video game) which would be hard to do with a broken hand....

Yes, he's supposed to OV this fall.

Could be a case where someone heard "Dean was injured" & wanted to be a message board hero & got the wrong Dean

Could mean both are hurt

Only one that has been confirmed by a mod to be injured is Nakobe
