Eason is the only one who left without there being some sort of obvious driving motive...and he left to his alma-mater. Mason and Harsin weren't meshing, and Hokanson just reported that the "idea" of Schmedding being named DC was percolated before Mason even decided to leave. Take that how you will; but it looks like a mutual parting of ways that was bound to happen next year anyway; and they just accelerated it. Schmedding was always Harsin's guy, hence the Assistant HC title. Schmedding was the guy who designed the game-plan for Bama.
It does look ugly, but he gets to sink or swim with his own guys and his own plan. He knows he needs to recruit, hence bringing in Christian Robinson. He's here for at least one more season regardless so you may as well accept it and see what he's capable of.

Hell this is me trying to blow sunshine.
We are on a program changing disaster opposite of what Coach Dye did.
We need to be out front with the new NIL stuff just to be competitive and we are so behind the crap isn't even sit up yet. But boy they are working on it. Recruiting is the name of the game. Get that then get coaches that can scheme with the best.
Anyone still wanna poo poo my idea of making Coach G the head coach and bringing in a staff of recruiters for 2-4 years?

He is literally putting us further and further behind each day that passes. We are 2-3 years away at this point. Another year even remotely close to this first year pushes us to 4-5 years away.

Hell without some huge pick ups in the portal over next year or some recruiting class out of this world how about over the next 3 years? Anything... We competing or beating UGA or bama? finishing top 4 in the conference?
I'm willing to go on record AU doesn't finish in the top 4 in the conference before 2026 with Harsin as the head guy.

I didn't present that idea as a fact i presented it as a proposal. Sometimes great dynamic changes causes great reward. And no I don't think Coach G would out scheme another head coach on a white board. Just think he's been around the game and the SEC long enough to know what would work, who can get the job done, and stack our roster at least to 3rd best in the conference if he had NIL behind him. That's just my opinion.

Across all the boards I’m on I’d say a very small percentage of people thought it was an awesome hire. Honestly, and I’ve said this previously, the reception he got was probably more favorable due to the daily spiraling news of the coaching search
My position has mostly been unchanged. But I did point out that Harsin is the kind of guy you hire to rebuild a program and that we were in for some hardship. I’ll admit though that the fast start changed my mind on that and got me way more excited about Harsin than what was reasonable. And I’ll give some others here credit for seeing through some of that.
All that to say — I’m back to that wait and see place that I started at this time last year. And just like with Gus, I’m willing to give Harsin an opportunity to make staff changes before I join the dumpster fire crew.
I don’t think we’re there yet but I definitely understand why some fans think we are. I don’t think that makes me oblivious to what’s going on.
