Agreed. I will never understand what the idea was for last season other than we just got our arse handed to us on the trail and whiffed. Our defense needs rim protectors. Has to have them. It relies on our guards being able to try and attack passing lanes but it also invites guards to drive to the free throw line/paint to trap them. When you don’t have any threat inside, the whole scheme falls apart which we saw plenty of. It takes the forwards and requires them to suck in to help, leaving the wings wide open for 3’s, which we also saw plenty of. Composition wise, I like these pieces much more on paper.

Yep, much more balanced offensively and defensively. We will see how they gel, but the talent and depth is there to have a really solid team.

Well Bruce thought he was gonna get Yaxel for $1m. Wasn’t gonna happen. Which he is not an elite defender but wears on bigs trying to guard him so just kind anchors the post some. Oporum of however it’s spelled was supposed to be a 6-7 minute a game guy and our 6’9” euro PF turned out to be 6’6”.
Maybe Bruce got a hair lazy but Overton, Hall, and Murphy were massive pickups in the portal just team never learned to play together when we needed a bucket was a terrible defense based on Auburn basketball expectations.

The plan was to play a more offensive high tempo style but Bashir being a bust and Magwood's struggles adjusting to playing pg and his off court issues made that impossible.

True and remember the portal was open while we were in the elite 8 and Final 4. So hard to negotiate while all that was going on

New proposed rule would get rid of most of the Euro guys that have played professionally. I personally like the rule but it's a little late to implement it for next season

Yea, I don't see a way they could implement it for this upcoming season at this point, there would be a revolt. It would have to be for the 27/28 season.

I saw basketball summer workouts have started. They put out a bunch if pics and videos of the first day. Mantas still working out his immigration details i believe was the only one not there. Last year Pett missed most of the summer doing his own thing and I think it hurt him during the season so it was good to see him out there

For someone who hasn’t been following recruiting, can someone please post a recruiting summary for everyone who will be playing next year? Are we looking better or worse than last year?

Jang's first post has a good rundown on the team.
On paper, this team is a much more complimentary team and they definitely fit the style we want to play more than last year's team. We have much better size on the inside and have a decent mix of off ball shooters and some slashing playmakers. Last year's team, just nobody really fit with each other on the court and didn't compliment each other's strengths. I think this team will be able to have more lineup options and won't have all the scoring options have to have the ball in their hands in order to get their shot.

We are praying “Mantas” is the truth.
We also got the best players from Troy and South Alabama.
We got a big from Santa Clara who has been productive.
We got a big from France who could develop.
I can’t remember where we found a transfer PG, but I think we did.
I think we make the NCAA.

Maybe he will work out.
The Furman transfer a couple of years ago did not produce.

He did but wasn’t ever officially cleared. Im sure it is no coincidence he got announced officially the same day the new eligibility rules were finally announced.

He was so overhyped. I don’t think he played a minute of SEC ball.
