Tate thinks Flanny has a non covid illness
Yeah I thought it was odd they just called it “medical” instead of covid, because I think Cambridge was labeled out for covid earlier, so it’s probably a non-covid issue.

IIRC, USF, UConn, and UCF all had big physical guards… granted, we didn’t exactly play our best ball in those games either.

Bruce told us in the crowd after the game that they implemented strict new covid protocols, including players wearing masks on the bus. FWIW

I’m a little worried about Saturday.
They should be a test for our 3’s and 4’s on offense and defense. So time to see what Cambridge, Alan, Jabari, and JayWill can do against length and solid defensive players. They don’t play for a lot of steals like LSU but play solid defense. Should be a good game tomorrow night with Bammer and UF.

Correct. I think those are the types of teams that will give us trouble especially if they have a good shooting night to go along with just how length effects shorter offensive players.

And I love Fish as a commentator
I have been thinking this for so long. He is a fricking pro at what he does and has aa blast doing it. He has been there, done that, seen't it and brings a ton to SEC Network basketball. Very, very proud and happy for him. Any other col...analyst better on SEC Network or anywhere else?
And can't be said enough, please rest in peace, Coach John Madden. No sports journalist, announcer, writer whatever is not better off for him, as we are as fans and spectators are as well.
TL/DR - Love Fish as SEC hoops commentator. Love him.
ETA he is by far no AU homer, but there is no doubt he loves AU and CBP and everything AU hoops. Couple that with his genuine love for everything basketball, it makes for pretty good commentary. I swear he said " that's just beautiful basketball" about 7 or 8 times today, because it was just beautiful basketball. War Eagle.

Only big concern for this team is when we run up against some elite tall guards
Pinson sort of fits the big guard category. Flanigan will help offset the tall guard teams. Smith has a decent handle and can help bring the ball up.
Playing 10 guys each night will help as situations develop during the season. Injuries, Covid, foul trouble, etc.
CBP really reached the guards about rebounding after the SLU game where the guards had like 1 combined rebound. With so many 3s being shot in modern basketball, guards must set some of those long rebounds. The smaller guards(Zep, KD, Green) have grabbed 11 and 8 rebounds in SEC games.
How tall is Berman? Is he a guard or a small forward? Are Cambridge and Flanagan considered guards?
Bigs: Kessler, Smith, Cardwell, Williams
Guards: KD, Zep, Green, Berman, Cambridge, Flanigan
The bench scores. It’s not just bodies. CBP can mix and match so many lineups. It’s a good problem to have such a deep rotation.

Green is performing far better than I ever thought he could and I had high hopes based off his EKU tape. You can tell he puts in the work. I wish he’d start getting some more love nationally
In case anyone missed it, here is a day in the life of Wendell Green Jr:
War Eagle Wendell Green Jr!

Was Fish a color analyst for Auburn radio during the Kyle Davis, Marco Killingsworth, Quis Daniels days? I am 90% positive he was but his resume says he was in the corporate world at the time.

iirc, both he and Cole started with Auburn and moved upwards. Props to Cole as well. He does good work.

Joe Dean Jr… Joe on color with Fyffe doing play by play was awesome.

Damn. Really? To me the guy sounded just like Fish.

Now it is possible Fish subbed a time or too for Joe Dean Jr as analyst, as with Fish living in Atlanta he definitely could have come over and filled in a time or two. It wouldn't show up as part of his resume probably, either.

You’re probably right… at some point Dean started doing color commentary for the regional SEC TV games and fishback filled in quite a bit.

Fish is my favorite but I like the team of Karl Ravich and Jimmy Dykes too. They do a great job.
That clown that is paired with Joe Klein sucks.

Jimmy dykes knows his stuff, and doesn't sugar coat anything.

You sure about that? It’s one of our worst metrics is being the ball up out of the PG’s hands and in transition. Jabari is great at a lot of things but I don’t think bringing the ball up is one of them. He looks like a new born horse trying to get his legs under him when he does.

agree. That is not is strengths.
e has height and long arms that help when he bring up the ball ,but he has shown being a little tentative when he starts to get pressure when in the backcourt.
Last night he struggled, even if he did get his double, but that was late when the game was decided.

I’d like to see Jabari get some more early touches on O. Not a complaint. I’m also fine with winning the same way we have been lol

Is Bama gonna be our first SEC loss again or should we go ahead and get that out of the way Saturday?
