I heard a little of Harsin’s pc on the radio. It was the same stuff we’ve already heard. Any good tidbits from his questions from the media? Finebaum said he didn’t answer the vaccine question? Any good clips of Bo or Pappoe? Links appreciated.

Deferred on the vaccine question which social media quickly ran with. Team's around 60% vaccinated at the moment.

He had a telling line, IMO, when asked about the culture he's trying to build at Auburn. The context of the quote is he had previously been talking about following Gus at multiple schools. This is one thing he said:

quote:

" ... what I did when I took the job is I wanted to see it. I wanted to witness what this team was about. I wanted to see why guys show up late. I wanted to see why guys didn't finish."

So ... yeah. Pappoe also mentioned on the radio he's got the players showing up to everything 10 minutes early.

Bo talked about bringing Finley along, Harsin talked about getting playbook, etc. to transfers ASAP so they can get ready for fall practice, which starts on the 5th. I think he said the first practice day is going to be all meetings with position coaches and split between "young" and "old" players.

I think the last 5 minutes or so of Harsin's press conference were really good. You kinda got to see a little fire when he was talking about culture, which I thought was cool.

Also when talking NIL he brought up teaching the players about paying taxes.

Apparently he likes to surf on the lake with his dog.

Still no details on the pool story.

Yeah people aren’t taking his “no comment” answer to the vaccine question well at all. Auburn beat reporters too.

And naturally, it was Gianna, the Al.com reporter that asked Harsin the question. Guess it was her parting shot since she leaves her Auburn beat job next week.

As far as the pressers go, looks like they're up on YouTube.

Here's the main one that was aired on SECN: LINK

And here's the smaller one that had more questions: LINK

Wish Harsin and the team were vaccinated, but this is a personal choice.

Good on Harsin for handling the baited vaccine question with his honest opinion. You can say whatever opinion you have on it, but our coach isn’t spineless and didn’t bend to the media’s will.

Hell yeah coach.

Thought Harsin did well overall. Loved hearing about the culture part at the end. I did chuckle, though, when he mentioned all the great players and coaches that have come through Auburn and then mentioned Trovon Reed as an example. Loved Trovon for his loyalty and changing positions for the team, but just an interesting choice to use him, Sammie Coates, and Bo as examples of great players from before…

Harsin said during his opening remarks that they’re not making the vaccine about a competitive edge and that they’re putting this work on Dr. Goodlett and the medical staff. He said they’re the ones talking to players and educating them on their decision. Essentially, he’s saying that he’s not getting involved with this. Fits the personality of almost every old school westerner I’ve met out here.

This was the most interesting part. Harsin didn’t spend a lot of time talking about Gus. He was asked about specific things and he addressed them without making a public impression about the previous staff. I think that’s smart on a lot of levels.

I think most coaches talk about setting the culture when they are hired somewhere that hasn’t reached its potential but you can tell that Harsin walks the walk on this.

Gave me the feels when he talked about this.

It's one thing to guess what you would do differently and another to have already done it before.

That’s the most Auburn players on preseason SEC teams I’ve seen in a while. Low expectations, experience coming back, new coach…dare I say 15-0 ship?!

If we have to forfeit a game because Harsin is either too selfish or too much of a jackass to get the vaccine then he can pack his bags.

fricking Dabo Swinney is on the right side of this.. If Dabo is smarter than you on a subject, you might want to reconsider your position. Saban also has his team at 90%+ vaccinated. We are paying Harsin millions to be a leader, he needs to step up and be one.

Rather you believe in the vaccines or not. I think when the s*** hits the fan and we have the potential to be 4-0 headed to LSU and having starters down due to being unvaccinated there will be a lot of pissed people. I’d rather my team get the vaccination and have a better chance of going into all the ball games healthy instead of losing winnable/close games at half strength.
