I'm going to choose to remain positive and chalk it up to first game jitters and not matching their energy

I feel like refs had it out for Bruce in many ways. I am curious to see if his son gets the fairer calls with a clean slate. I imagine he will.

17-16 last year, and didn’t play any of their decent opponents close.

Are they a completely new team like us?

Yeah, some are trying to justify our performance.

We should have won by double digits. We had nobody in their face on 3's. They back-door cut us all game long. They drove by us all game long. I can't remember the last time I saw a D performance that bad by us. We will finish bottom half of the league if we don't improve drastically.

They also have 12 players that are juniors or seniors and 2 freshmen. This is team with a roster of all new players, literally. We clearly have some problems, but they were never going to look like a well oiled machine this early.

I’m certainly not panicking yet, but we seem to be doing the same thing we like to do in football where we crown mid-to-downright-bad teams when they beat us or play us closer than expected.

Not true at all.

Yes, they did have some open 3s but most were contested.

They just had a freaky flukey shooting night from 3-pt land.

They shot 50% from the field and 54% from 3. Being two steps off of them is not "contested".

We were two steps off of them all game long........whether they had the ball or not. Pett was even two steps off. We did not try to deny the ball. We didn't switch worth a damn. They did whatever they wanted. The huge FT advantage is why we won the game.

Jovic ain't got it, needs some serious seasoning.

Yeah. Him and Magwood, being a couple of the freshman recruits, both had a tough game.

Bashir is looking like he may this year's version of JP Pegues.

I agree with whoever said the starting lineup needs to include SWA. He needs Jovic's spot in the starting lineup. What's up with Oporum? Sure would be nice to be able to put a 7-footer at the basket to protect the rim and grab some boards. Teams with any size inside are likely to give this team heavy work down there. It sure didn't feel like we had the edge on the glass tonight, but looking at the box score, we did.

On defense, im not sure if they're playing timid to not foul or are just lost. Our defense was so soft tonight that BCU only attempted 9 free throws. That is crazy soft.

Well, that just isn't true.

They made several insanely good shots where our guy couldnt have done any more without fouling. The one guy was just longer than anyone we could run at him and shot it right over them a couple times. Hell, near the end, one of them pulled up from the edge of the logo and had a hand in his face and hit it like he was prime Curry.

The defensive performance was not good by any means, but we did close out pretty good on their 3's. We just lack some length out there that we have had in recent years. Gonna have to adjust and play up tighter before they shoot it. Most of what we saw tonight should be fixable. Im not as down on this team yet as some yall.

we watched a different game them. I watched our defenders back off after the catch (they made very few catch and shoot 3's) and them drain them all night. I don't consider being a solid step away as "in their face" though. I even mentioned to the wife how far we were playing off the ball. Her exact words "this is a different D than I have seen at Auburn".

I think both are true. We gave up some wide open ones and they also made some tough ones, especially later in the 2nd half. Like someone said earlier, you can’t let them get going like that.

That was a bad performance against a huge underdog. Can only hope the team will improve.

We can hope.

And that hope is done.

Moving on to football.

I did it see the game.

It looks like they shot the three well and we did not.

It’s a long time to March. This team needs to get better.

Murphy being dinged up really limits the front court. Especially since we are replacing an all time forward/center.

Time will tell. We will know more after Arizona game.

Defense was not good at all. I didn't see the Memphis game, but it looked almost just like the Okie game. That must improve.

Saying that....we still are going to have to beat teams in the 80's and 90's this year. We don't have a rim protector and that makes a huge difference on D. Teams are going to put up points. We are just going to have to score score score.

Our guards also must be better. 0 wasn't good last night. Overton was solid. The other 2 guards didn't do anything at all. Have to get better guard play.

Our 3 and 4 spots were very good on offense and Murphy played well. We don't have a 5 so it's going to be an interesting season to watch.

Let's hope Reggie Theus has a SWAC Championship level team there...

Im with you. Being a step away with your hands below your knees is not contesting a 3 pt shot and we did it repeatedly. Give Alabama those same uncontested looks and they'll hang 120 on us. It has to get better

It’s a long season, fellas. We can lose 10-12 times and still get to the tourney. This team will take some time to gel. I’m going to enjoy the ride as a nice pivot from the stinky pile of shite that is our football program.
