Wow. Nice game from both teams.

Excited for this team to evolve and see what we have in late February.

Definitely going to have to figure out rebounding and defense. Definite potential for the team but some definite weaknesses right now, but heck of an exhibition to learn from. OSU if they play/shoot like that will be a tourney team

Did not have a great night shooting.

Missed a barrel of free throws.

Played a bunch of guys.

Lost.

OKST has some dudes.

Yea they didn’t seem to rotate much. Played their starters a ton. We did not.

Lots to work on but number one for me is cutting down on the dribble drives and rim protection. They had way too many lay ups

Hall by far our best player tonight. Not impressed with Jovic at all. Our interior defense needs tons of work.

I really like Overton, Freeman, and Pettiford. Would have liked to have seen Bashir get some more looks and play with the ball in his hands some. Maybe he’s just a spot up guy for now

Yeah, I feel okay after that. I'll feel better when we make sure Murphy is okay.

I think we will have scorers. The defense showed flashes and will come along. I'm not worried about Pett, he had some damn good sequences with D/O. Overton quietly put up 15+.

We will be different with the bigs, but I think it can work when they all learn their roles. We will struggle against the bigger, deeper teams like UF, though. One good thing there is that we have the dudes to get some teams in foul trouble. We didn't have that last year.

Overall I think we need to keep in mind that this game counted for jack shite.

Remember that year we lost to D2 Barry and won the SEC? Yeah. That.

Feel good about the offense. Early on it looked like a bunch of dudes that have never played together and found more of a rhythm later. I expect this to get better quickly as the season goes. Had a pretty poor shooting night and still got in the mid 80’s against a potential tourney team.

Defense and rebounding were rough but that’s going to be a common thing this year running a four G lineup. Defense looks like it’s gonna be feast or famine. Guys do not defend well enough to guard for the full shot clock. Way too many guys away from the ball got caught watching and lost their man. Big boys are gonna have to attack the ball when rebounding and stop trying to tip it so much (looking at you Jovic).

SWA, Hall, Freeman, and Overton are all excellent additions. SWA isn’t gonna be a dude that takes over a game like those others but he was the only somewhat consistent defender and plays hard every second he’s on the court.

Thought we’d win but also didn’t expect them to barely sub and have a guy go full Dametime.

Really underwhelmed with Jovic and Bashir and Magwood but I think Jovic and Magwood will come along. Bashir I am not sure is cut out for this level based on the limited action I saw tonight. Liked Murphy before he got hurt and loved Hall, Freeman, Overton. Like SWA as well.

LONG way to go defensively. Haven't seen a Pearl team look like that defensively since pre-Kessler

I think we mostly need to expect Bashir to be a spot up guy for now.

Which on that, this team looks like it’s gonna be ISO heavy which is a bit concerning. Movement (both players and the ball) weren’t great. Offense look it’s best when going quickly and when the ball handlers got downhill (and when we just fed Hall).

Transition O is on a different planet from the last couple of years. Overton and Freeman can get up and GO

I’m not stressing an exhibition game at all. Just pointing out what I saw.

Interior defense is bad bad. Can it get better? Absolutely and I expect it will. Only worry is our “Bigs” Coach is now the head coach

Freeman is gonna end up being a steal. He’s got NBA potential.

I thought Bashir was ok. He had a steal and finished at the rim one time. Just didn't have any of this 3's fall tonight or I think most would feel different.

SWA reminded me a little of Jaylin when he was a freshman. Still raw in some areas, but you can tell he can play and will contribute a lot. I wouldn't be shocked if he plays his way into a starting role at the 4 at some point this year.

For Bashir it was just his general athleticism that looked concerning. Maybe he can be a spot up shooter for us but I was expecting more

Feels like he is Jahki Howard with a good attitude

I thought athletically he looked fine. I did expect him to be a little taller though. I could have sworn his profile said he was like 6'6 or something, but he's closer to 6 foot even. Def 1 or 2 and won't be playing any 3 this year like I thought he might.

Edit-- just looked and it says Bashir is 6'7. Someone should go to jail for a lie that big lol.

Had a very similar thought early in the game. You could tell he's athletic, but he was forcing some bad shots. He settled in nice though. I think he and Overton will be good 3rd/4th options behind Hall and Pett.
