He was a bad fit. We have had some truly horrific AD hires.

You have to think he will be gone at some point by end of season. As you mentioned, I’ve heard from enough of the few people I know, that they hate him and I haven’t heard any of them say there is anyone that really goes to bat for him.

This is one of the situations that always shows me our money people aren’t nearly the meddlers they get made out to be, at least not more than anywhere else. What our admin is allowed to do with how much they object to stuff, they are more hands off than people claim.

I see posters here say that Cohen sucks and I am inclined to believe them. This is partly because I see the results on game days, but also because these posters are apparently more in the know. What I do not know is, what specifically makes him bad. Is he too conservative in his approach, too concerned with profit/loss, etc.? Can anyone say why he’s failing and/or how someone else might do a better job?

Any "man" that allows his wife to trans his child is such a beta that he cannot possibly be an effective leader of men. Whether that should play a role in people judging his effectiveness as AD is another question but the results of his two football hires is a clear indicator that he has failed Auburn. If our fans were not so loyal (could not believe we had the stadium nearly packed for Vandy in the heat last week with the product we put on the field the past 6 years) I think he would have already been run out of town. No way he should make it past December 31st.

Both of the Cohen’s are from Tuscaloosa-there’s your first problem.

I'm just curious what the PTB were thinking when they hired this guy? Why did they think he would be any good? Miss St was laughing at us for taking him. He didn't have some home run record there. Did they not do any due diligence at all?

Or, and this is most troubling of all, was he about all we could get? No one else worth a damn would come?

Etheridge is the correct answer and should have replaced Jacobs

And we can crack on Jacob’s but I think he had Auburns best interest in winning in all sports. He brought in the 2 greatest coaches in the program in Butch and Bruce.

And he wasn’t ashamed of firing a football when it was time.

Plus he was an incredible fundraiser. He knew the people that would invest into Auburn.

And no we shouldn’t rehire him

Jacobs also was the AD in 2017 when GusShortBus received that ridiculous contract extension. That’s unforgivable and IMO Auburn is in the shape to this day with football.

We have fully recovered from that years ago. And by comparison 7m a year was a bargain for Gus. We were in contention for SEC championships almost every November. Just had 2 brutal opponents each year in that month but he kept us in contention most seasons.

Now we wonder if we are going to have a winning season.

I know Lanier and I for about 3 years tried to tell everyone be careful what you wish for. But the mob knows best

It definitely is an indicator of his decision making. He actually believes his daughter became a boy.
