Well cosidering we don't play another team worth a damn besides Bama so it doesn't matter too much
UGA is 13th in rushing defense
Bama is 1st
UF is 10th
Michigan is 15th
Clemson is 37th
I'd like to play all those teams

Not concerned.
I am thoroughly enjoying our season and the personality of this team that is emerging.
I am in the
Zone!

I don't recall Pettway, Truitt, and Stove being involved much early in the season. Sean still concerns me a little bit, but if he catches fire then we will drop 40 on errbody. He hasn't played his best game yet.

They were not. We hear about Stove in camp but Gus decided to trot out a walk-on kicker at WR. Pettway is our best back and didn't get a touch vs Clemson (remeber we had 2 rushing yards at halftime.) He fixed it, but damn he needs to learn to trust what he seeing during fall camp.

Here is my concern since we are talking about it. Red zone. Not so worried about moving the ball down the field but getting it in the end zone could be a concern
We had these concerns earlier in the year and have done much better as of late but we basically over powered State, Ark and ULM. Last week against Ole Miss, the red zone issues came back up again.
Hopefully, the red zone issues have not been hidden by weak competition. Vandy has a decent defense and I believe UGA does as well. We will need to work on that if we have any chance to beat Alabama. I honestly believe we will need some different red zone plays against them to be able to score

When things are going well, I try not to come up with issues to worry about to spoil my enjoyment of things going well.
But that's just me.

I would be concerned if they weren't putting up monster numbers. But since they are beating the shitty teams like a good team should, Idk what your concern is. Remember last year and struggling against inferior opponents?

We are bowling over weaker competition with the running game. Considering that was all we did against Arky and OM I am concerned about balance. We are going to have to be more balanced against Vandy and UGA to keep the ball moving, and when we get to Bama it will require keeping them off balance to get the job done. I don't believe our OL is strong enough to just line up and run the ball over their DL very many times without making them defend the pass too.
Lanier is right about the red zone plays. We will need to use everything to get in when the field gets small. I believe we will see a couple different plays in the next 3 games to get ready for a change including some more tight end play. Let's just hope there is no panic by the coaches and they go crazy with play calling and rotating QB's.

I am not a fan of pulling Pettway off the field and having Kerryon run the wildcat in the redzone. I know Pettway was stuffed at goal line by LSU but I think that was more a blocking bust than Pettway not being a good short yardage rusher.
Also, I think pulling the QB is more of a negative even with the extra blocker. Close to the goal line, we need to roll SW out with run/pass option or do the 2010 Lutzenkirchen throw back or something unique. Both Slayton and Kyle Davis have shown pretty tall catch radius to do a fade to back corner of end zone for example.
Just running Kerryon wildcat against Bama will not get er done in my opinion.

Attempts were 82% run v Arky and 70% run v OM. I think that number will need to be closer to 60% run to keep Bama from loading the box. Passing to set up the run will be key. I am pretty sure our OL can dominate the DL at Vandy and likely the same at UGA if not to a slightly lesser degree, but Bama will be another level and their coaches will be ready for it.

So will Gus. Every year he is at his best against Bama. Even last year the gane plan was good, we had open WRs all over the field. We just could not execute the game plan last year with Johnson at qb.

09,10,13,14,15 all had solid to good offensive performances against Bama's D
The only outlier in Gus' offensive tenure is 2011, but I'll give him a pass given the QB/OL situation

Vandy should be a good test for the red zone offense. Vanderbilt's defense only allows opponents to score 75% of the time with only 54% of red zone drives ending in a TD. To compare that to Alabama, they allow scores 81% of the time but only give up a TD 37.5% of the time.

I think it's also pertinent to remember the contrast between "good" years and "bad" years when Gustav has been on campus.
In "good" years, such as 2010, 2013 and (hopefully) 2016, our offense improves significantly as the season progresses. In "bad" years, such as 2011 and 2015, it actually gets worse. This seems to be the case regardless of the level of competition.
2009 seemed to be anomaly, as we had a mid-season slump before rebounding at the end of the year. In 2014 the offense was pretty effective throughout with the exception of the UGa game, but did start turning the ball over twice as much (only 5 in the first 5 games, but 15 in the next 7). Plus our defense was historically awful.
We are close to having the AU team we have always wanted: a salty defense paired with a rolling ball of butcher knives on offense, and ST amongst the nation's best. We'll see if we can get there this year.

I will certainly agree with this statement. We are always weak somewhere. Not really this year. Not weak anywhere

I'm not because I didn't expect anything after the first couple of games so I promised to take whatever we could get this year.
The "concern" is that the type of offense we are running is the exact type of offense bama is made to destroy.

Well, if true then you have nothing to be concerned about because.
