Not good.
I’m by no means defending Gus. He is very bad when playing away from JHS and would be coaching at Georgia State if not for Kevin Steele and Rodney Garner.
But as I said.....beating Bama is and will always be the number 1 way I measure a season. Obviously UGA, LSU and the bowl games matter but they are not nearly as important as the Iron Bowl.
There have been numerous case studies and analytical studies over the years stating that the lron Bowl is the greatest sports rivalry in the USA. There ain’t a 30 for 30 special on Auburn-Georgia or Auburn-LSU for a reason.
I’m frankly shocked that this is even debatable.
Beating Alabama is a very good thing.

My assumption is that those Auburn fans who live out of state or did not grow up in the state of Alabama do not feel the intensity of the Auburn-Alabama rivalry as those that live in it 24/7/365
Auburn-Alabama comes up at work, at church, at poker night, at 4th of July bbqs, at random red lights.
5 days from now...no one will give two sheets about Minnesota, but at least I don’t have to hear some 18 year old dirt ball say “Nick Saban sure did whoop that a$$. Roll Tide” behind my back in the grocery store for the next year.

I’m clearly in the minority.
But given the choice of:
1. Season we had beating Bama
2. 10-3 and losing to Bama
...I would take #1.

I like 10+ win seasons and winning bowl games as much as the next person...
...but in the end this was a successful season because we beat the goons from Tuscaloosa.
War Damn Eagle!

Schwartz is faster than Bo was.
We’ll agree to disagree.
Maybe on a track, Schwartz would be faster but with 20 lbs of football gear, Bo wins.
But don’t trust me. Trust your own eyes. Enjoy

“fastest ever?”
I suggest you go to youtube and search “Bo Jackson Auburn highlights” and report back.

Last night sucked, but I'm pretty much over it today. I'm not sure I'm over 2013 yet.
I agree.
Loss yesterday against Virginia to me might not even be in the top 5 “most painful losses.”
1. Florida State - 2013
2. Van Kiffin field goal
3. LSU last second touchdown pass instead of kicking field goal - 2005
Call me a “Football School” homer, but just participating in Final Four was great and never expected.
In football, I expect Auburn to win every game against any opponent anywhere or die trying.

I would like to see Auburn in the east....move Missouri to West.
I had initially hoped that playing T A&M would help us recruit Houston players. Nope!
I would prefer seeing us consistently play Florida and Tennessee over LSU and Texas A&M.

I was planning on going but then I realized that I really need to clean the gutters and change the batteries in the smoke detectors in my house. Probably change the oil in my truck as well. Maybe next year.

Scouting out our bowl site?
I assume we’re playing in one those mega-bowls.....Memphis, Birmingham or Shreveport.

Fired after Bama game in Tuscaloosa in November 2020 after 5-7 season
(2019 season is typical Gus bounce back season of 9-3 with surprise win over LSU)

You need to watch some Clint Moseley games on YouTube.

Gus is now 6 wins and 14 losses against ranked teams away from J-H.
0.300
Ouch.

Gus makes the absolutely worst halftime adjustments of any coach in football.
It still eats at my intestines that went into halftime in Pasadena with a nice lead on Florida State.

Gus now has 6 wins and 13 losses against ranked teams when playing somewhere other than Jordan-Hare.
That’s 0.316 for all you English majors.

Very close, but Louisville was not ranked.

Anybody else?

6 - 12
Gus’ record against top 25 teams away from Jordan-Hare.
Extra credit if you can name the 6 wins. I’ll give you a hint....none of the 6 were in Tuscaloosa, Athens or Baton Rouge.
With Georgia, Bama and potentially a bowl game, that record could unfortunately get to 6 - 15 by Jan. 1st.

Was there a game today?
I went camping with kids. Auburn football non-existant for me until August 2019.
Is that one stubborn coach that always blows the halftime leads still around?
