It's crazy because there are so many positives that are hard to ignore, but threads like this remind me that you will never please everyone. We lose a WR that nobody thought we had a chance with originally, and a couple of Bball games and these dudes run for the ledge. Being an Auburn fan is something else lol

Just the casuals that don’t know ball and think a two game stretch defines a season.
We’ve won 3 conference championships in the past 6 years and are in the hunt for another this year.

Does your employer ask you to return your check after you aren't the absolute best in your job?

The economics of the game is not sustainable, but no one knows how to change it. From the cost of attending games, to the cost
Of broadcasting them, to giving money for NIL, eventually you hit the ceiling.
Personally I think we are close to folks giving up. People have so many other options on how to spend money. The country is getting poorer. Paying coaches $75 million not to coach (TAMU).

I think you missed my point Weagle. I AM saying that we are close to elite. We are constantly competing at a high level. We are ranked in the top 10, we are making the dance every year. Elite could be a stretch but we are certainly close
My point is, we SHOULD be expecting it now. Bruce is delivering constantly and we are reloading every year.
We need to stop bringing up how bad we sucked 10 years ago every time something about basketball is discussed. We are not that program any more. Auburn has every reason to expect and think we can make a deep run every year.
Screw what happened 10-30 years ago. We are not that program any longer.

No I’m just taking your point to its logical conclusion.
What effect does the fans’ expectation do for the program? We show up to every game already. We have an intimidating atmosphere already. So the only other good raised expectations does for a program is puts pressure on mediocre coaches to perform or be fired.
So by saying we’re not the program we were in the past, you’re either just talking about irrelevant garbage or you’re talking about potentially firing Pearl which is just absolutely ridiculous and arrogant. It’s equivalent to Bama fans thinking there will be zero drop off after Saban.
We aren’t a brand new program that just maintains itself. Pearl is a huge reason we are where we are and you don’t easily remove him and even maintain what he’s built let alone improve what he’s built.
And we’re talking about this because of two regular season games.

Man, nobody is saying or even insinuating that. Dude is one of, if not the best head coach we have ever had. At any sport. Nobody is saying anything close to that.
My point is, I dont think we can use the "We sucked before Bruce came" anymore when someone is "complaining" about something that is going on with the team. We are past that. We are better now and we people should expect better which is why some were not crazy about losing both games this week. Yes, 15 years ago if we lost 2 in a week, it would not even be talked about
But we are a much better program now and people will be criticizing the team when bad things happen. We have grown to expect better which is a great thing for the program
If anyone is insinuating that we fire Bruce, they should be banned.

Elite teams usually make it past the 2nd round.
We've done that once. Once.
Not calling us close to elite yet. I think the players thought they were too. They just got a wake up call. Two quick losses with probably more to come.

well, it sucks because we can't say the team looked like shite or Bruce had some coaching blunders when those things actually happened before our own eyes without all the gatekeepers telling us we're front-running band wagon fans.
I'd just like to talk about what I saw happening in the game.

So you took the irrelevant garbage route. Smart choice.
What we expect from the program is not great for the program. It’s irrelevant. Unless you want to fire Bruce then it becomes relevant.

Because that’s totally comparable to OP. Spot on.

It’s in the bball thread and in this thread - not related to the OP.
