I'm assuming you weren't in a fraternity lol

I was in one of the larger Auburn fraternities and have previously spent time on its alumni board

Go ask whoever manages your chapters finances to look at the % of dues that pay for insurance, then ask for how limited that insurance is in coverage due to exclusions to coverage

If you want a party venue, go take the insurance savings and open a bar/club. You can call it Puzzles

We haven't had any trouble getting insurance that is reasonable in price and coverage. Honestly our nationals is the biggest pain in the arse right now, even more so than IFC or the University

You may have a different idea of reasonable than I do. If recall the % of budget dedicated to insurance was absurd

Ya, that's why I threw out that free advice. Most people pay consulting money for helping them identify potential business opportunities and sources of capital funding

I guess it just depends on your perspective, and to most fraternities the astronomical cost of insurance required in order to still have parties is worth it.

It is easy to say it is "worth it" when most members' Mom + Dad foot the insurance bill.

I understand where you are coming from. I lived your perspective at one point. Just letting you know that fraternities are only one option of many for partying. Even w/o the rule changes, you'd notice that your "partying" location will shift from the fraternity house to the bar or house/apt parties

Never underestimate 18-22 YO ingenuity for findings ways to act irresponsibly and drink in loud obnoxious ways.

Dawson, Insurance is provided by Nationals. Your chapter's annual budget includes over $73,000 in fees to Nationals (which includes insurance).

We've looked into obtaining insurance independent of nationals because the company nationals uses to provide insurance is supposedly dealing with a law suit that will likely put them under.

I couldn't finish a TV series even if I tried so I don't even try and start one.

Just because it's on Netflix doesn't mean it isn't I was just referring to the resurgence of shows like the office and friends due to Netflix

Lol. IFC appears to be MUCH different now compared to when I was on Exec. We spent most of our time
1. “Checking” parties
2. “Checking” rush
3. Getting blasted with our lady Greek counterparts on Foy’s roof.

sounds like you could skate around that by mixing your drinks off site and then bringing them there. 15% is easy to get under as a mixed drink.

In theory this is correct but IFC basically considers anything in a cup other than beer over 15% ABV. IFC usually only makes one round and it's before the party starts but if anything was to happen and hard liquor was involved it would be a direct violation and it wouldn't go well, at all.
