So basically they are encouraging kids to binge on beer.

Who could ever get binge-drunk just drinking beer, right?

Kids will still bring hard liquor. This was a smart move.

Pretty soon the college experience as we know it will be history.

Sucks for future generations.

The poor SOB that gets elected as Risk Manager for each fraternity. I’m sure IFC will randomly send people to events to make sure the new restrictions are being followed, but it’s all on the Risk Manager to keep the brothers in check.

There will just be hidden bottles up in rooms.

Yep. Unless they decide to ban all liquor from fraternity houses at all times, this won't be very enforceable. I'm sure the fraternities know this and did this more as a publicity move than anything else.

This was always the case. Just like no common source alcohol (which still happened all the time).

I'm sure this will be followed about as well as laws against underage drinking.

I am currently an active brother in an Auburn fraternity and can confirm this is true. Brothers can have liquor in their rooms and around the house but if a registered party or event is taking place it must be put away. They're doing a beer ticket system now which also sucks arse. Game day tailgates are exempt from the liquor ban though which makes up for it just a tiny bit, but it still really sucks.

It is, IFC is trying to appease President Leath and other admin. Two fraternities that I know of were kicked off in the fall.
