As noted, Stidham went 16 for 20 and 267 yards passing, but my biggest takeaway from that were the amount of those that were explosive (defined by any play that goes for over 20 yards). I'm counting six, or over a third of his completed passes. When was the last time we had a passer/receiving corps that was even mildly capable of explosive plays?

Oh, and by the way, Stidham managed to beat White's longest career throw in the first quarter on that 50 yard connection to NCM.

Only damper I'd put on expectations is that we didn't see him in pressure much since Gus is so adamant on the 2's vs 1's set-up. I would like to see him make some of the same passes under a little bit more duress.

Just had a chance to watch the game. Feel like I've taken a whole bottle of Viagra.

Yeah, so long as the offensive line holds up, this will be a scary offense. It's a good thing Jay Jacobs doesn't listen to the reactionary fanbase. This will be a great team.

My very vague thoughts:

- Stidham... frick yeah.

- So much future potential in Willis. I love that he wears #14.

- I'm glad we have GA Southern in Game 1 prior to Clemson. GSU ain't no push-over these days, so it'll be a good test and preparation for the following week. And, hopefully, give the OL time to gel.

- So many feelz watching the play calling being something other than run-run-save-us-with-a-pass.

- How open will the middle of the defense be for Pettway and KJ this year if the line gels and Stidham is who we hope him to be?

- Daniel Carlson is a god. And frick his grandfather.

- Holland and Davidson and James and Coe... me likey.

- Looked to me like Lindsey came in and observed "Your route tree is a go-route and a WR screen? Hold my beer... "

- I think even Lanier and Rocky can be positive about this team.

After 15-0 and a Heisman, will Stidham come back or leave it to Willis to lead us to back to back Natties?

DL will be nasty. You left Brown, and Russell out. You can't name them all I know!

Lindsey knows Gus. The Gus before he lost his mojo. (See Pasadena in 2014 IMO) He is the perfect addition IMHO.

We all have to hold our nuts for awhile. It is easy to get excited, but we have so many pieces compared to years past. We have depth as well. Having White/Willis on the sidelines waiting is a great position to be in!

WAR DAMN GUYS!

The problem with the Top-10 argument is we have finished 3rd, 4th and 5th in the SEC the last 3 years. So based on the recruiting stars talent argument we will only be the 3rd-5th most talented team in the SEC next year. Based on that thinking he will need tricks to win the SEC.
We all know who #1 was, which teams were #2 and #3? How did they fare in 2016?

By the same metric, we're more talented than the team that won the FBS Championship last year, and was a close runner-up the year before that.

At this level, it doesn't take "tricks", it takes consistency, discipline, competent game planning, and even breaks to win a title.

That is the point I was making. I hate when people say "we should be better caused we recruit top ten" when in fact finishing 2nd last year means we preformed above our ability level based on recruiting compared to other SEC teams.

Am I the only one who was really impressed with the first team o-line when Prince Tega was at LT and James was at RT? Tega was holding people down.... if you haven't seen it I would suggest going and watching the game again just to see him... coach Hand has done miracles with his development.... it does wanders that the guy is 6-8 300 and runs an 4.6 40.......

I'm pretty sure we just witnessed NCM's coming out party. I saw shades of past greats in his movements. Alshon came to mind, cuz of his big frame. He is gonna be great for us

for some reason, I hadn't even put 2 and 2 together that he was wearing 14. Oh how I would love to terrorize the SEC again with a little, fast #14

I would feel much better about his performance if it was against our first team defense, not our second team defense. Maybe he will be great, who knows, but I wouldn't use the A day game as a barometer for that.

I agree but you have to remember..... we shuffle about 10 guys a game up front.... so the guys he was going against are very likely to see the field for an extended amount of time.... it's not like he was going against walk-ons. Those are 3-4* guys.

And my point was, when you are consitently recruiting at the level that we (and Bama, and LSU, and UGa, and Clemson, and F$U, and tOSU, and USC etc etc) are, athletic talent isn't what is keeping you from winning.
