I think he runs extremely well and has a deep ball. He simply doesnt need to be throwing it 40 times a game.

He takes awful sacks and takes alot of the blame for them losing to vandy and tennessee. Ryan williams was open all night and targeted probably close to 20 times and ended with 8 for 73. He's bama's worst qb since Blake Sims and if the vibes on the field take a hit he gets worse. Lots of PT energy with that one.

I'm not advocating for Milroe but he's the kind of QB that can help a team with limited talent around him just with his playmaking ability. Bama/uber talented teams do better with a distributor/game manager that will take care of the ball and get the ball to the playmakers.
I'd like to do better but we could, and have for years now, do a lot worse than Milroe.

But we don't have "limited talent". If you believe that to be the case, then what was the point of Freeze's recruiting and paying all that money for Coleman, Thompson, etc.?
You brought in a bunch of 5-star WR's so you can pick up Milroe and have him run the football all game long?

I mean Thompson can't get on the field Coleman has shown flashes but struggled with any kind of consistency and Simmons looks pretty decent.
Even if you want to say we have talent at the receiver position the OL is a serious problem as well. Maybe Milroe can get out of the trouble our lack of pass protection causes and make more plays with his legs. Maybe the fear of that makes defenses think twice about their pressures and coverages and opens things up for the offense.
It's all moot though because he isn't coming here, but I'd take him over what we have/will probably end up with.

I'd take almost anything over what we have now at QB. The unknown would feel like possible potential.

Go look at our starting lineup when Harsin first got here compared to what Freeze was left with.
Freeze is doing a shite job, but Harsin had a 10 win roster his first season at Auburn and shite the bed.
