Surprised.. and I'm not counting on it sticking, but its a good pick up. One of our biggest realistic needs.

This staff even whiffed on this guy. It’s going to be Alabama.

It’s comical at this point.

I'm disappointed by it too, but he decommitted from UGA and is going to go to Alabama - so not following "this staff even whiffed on this guy" makes sense

This should be a pretty busy day recruiting wise.

Mcelderry to Bama. Some DL on our recruiting board to LSU. Any other announcements today?

JGT says Karmello currently doesn’t have the grades to qualify. Something to look out for.

Harsin doesnt seem to be one to take kids that might have any issues.

Hell just have him say he is going to Bama and those grade issues will be worked out real quick.

He was expected to flip to Auburn before a few days ago, and he’s a major position of need.

Two great pickups....though some will find something negative somehow somewhere to complain about.

Do we have a drop box in front of the athletic dept? Just curious how they were able to commit since our coaches dont recruit?

Yes English has a lot of academic work to do. Maybe he finished his summer courses and the coaches think he can get the rest completed in his senior year or senior year plus next summer.

I’m not the authority on these things but I didn’t think he was an Auburn lean. It did seem clear his commitment to UGA was shakey but anyone who considered him AU bound was taking a leap, IMO. I don’t think anyone CB’d him to AU either for that reason. That said, Auburn pursued him really, really hard. It’s still a miss without any doubt. Just never thought Auburn was really ahead there

English and Cobb were important pickups for a team that lacks playmakers. Auburn only has 4 commits but the average recruit rating is only behind Alabama and UGA. That’s a about as meaningful as the actual ranking at this point. Which is to say it means very little.

Volume is still still a red flag. And it’s a red flag only because of the misses. Otherwise, 9/14 SEC schools have less than 10 commits. A&M has 5. But we’re slowly erasing the known board we have to work with. A fast start to the season will be critical, IMO.

JLee certainly insinuated that Auburn was in the driver’s seat for Mcelderry in their podcast in early to mid june

Gotcha. JLee has always been too much of a hype man for me. Here’s what I said on McElderry a few weeks ago:

McElderry only talked about Auburn to AU guys which I always found weird. UGA guys mentioned Bama a lot and it seemed to me that if he flipped it was Bama

Well, he did say all the right things after his visit and we do have a relative of his also on our commitment list.

Of course, it’s hard to recruit against Alabama, and even more so now with this staff.

IMO, a lot of the paysite recruitng guys are being overly optimistic right now. I’m just not believing much of it.

Most of these guys don’t publish the negative stuff. I think that’s why KN is a good fit for a national role. Wiltfong does a good job hopping around and delivering the bad news

Pay sites are kind of having to pump the sunshine right now, even more than usual. I would guess their sub counts go with the ebbs and flows of the teams they cover. No one wants to spend money every month to only get bad news.

Reading some of the discussions, you could convince me otherwise.

Austudent23 just predicted Faulk to Auburn and said he’s playing the game. Not sure what his connections are like now, but he was money in the past.
