Put your F's in the chat... this class fell apart in a way I've never seen lol. We went from having like 6 guys locked up to maybe 1 now
... Maybe my guy will actually get an offer after all lol..

June was a make or break month and it seemingly broke

Well at least July is much of a dead period. So maybe the recruiting sites will not hassle the recruits therefore a month of no bad news.
So anyone have a list for Big Cat weekend?

Karmello English has pushed back his commitment date. No timeframe now
I have a feeling this isn’t as bad as it’s sounds. I think possibly this is a save commit for coming out of or during Big Cat so the staff can say hey look moving back in the year wasn’t bad however in reality if we would have done the Big Cat thing earlier we might have 5-6 commits by now. I’d wait and see on English

Absolutely not, this staff knows it needs all the positive press it can get. They know they are losing out on guys because of negative recruiting what better than to have a top 200 guy commit?

They already screwed up BCW. It's on the same weekend as Bama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee (IIRC) holding their own recruiting events. Lots of guys that we would have wanted to be there are already planning on visiting other schools.

Corch being the only positive one on the board.. we are officially in the twilight zone

All Corch does is fluff Harsin and his staff. Needs to get off his knees and get a face full of reality for a change

Surely we didn’t do this again

Well Freeman said in another thread that we needed to support Harsin so I’m doing my part and in that thread I think I said something similar to…
Yea Team. Go Harsin. I’m sure that will get us a couple commits this week

ON3, specifically KN and JLee, are sticking with their pick of English to AU. I hope they are right, but it feels a bit like English camp telling people what they want to hear to keep people off their backs.. or the staff just completely misreading another situation like Faulk.

This theme seems to be reoccurring from reports on recruits that we seem to be in on as top 3-5.
Harsin and staff may have refined their recruiting plan and it was much better and detailed as most AU fans felt he needed to do to put AU in better shape in signing the top players.
But remember he still has Friend, and some new coaches doing the recruiting...
I hope the panic before these kids start throwing out commitments...is just that unnecessary competitors putting out false messages about AU recruiting.
I guess this weekend will either give us faith and momentum back or we will well be on our way to another top 25 class.

The fact is that the staff has done a great job getting lots of top recruits on campus and the recruits appear to be very positive on AU. They also like Harsin and coaches and the plan for the future. But negative recruiting is killing us and we knew that would be the case after the shitshow by the idiot powerful people. Step 1 is a winning season; no less than 8-4. Then see how many recruits will be comfortable committing. Now if the team has a losing season, yes then we have a big problem.

quote:I think its much simpler than the above. I believe it's negative recruiting by rivals and the AU NIL (or whatever) not throwing around enough money. It's becoming - or has already become - all about the money. I don't find it surprising that the majority of kids that grew up in poverty aren't going to place much value in the cost and value of a free education, housing, meals, books, clothes, etc.. They can't spend (waste?) that money. Plus you can get those things at whatever school you attend, and the school itself is nothing more than a stop before "The League". It's just a place to "grind".

I find it harder and harder to root for any of it in this current form. So I think I'll pay undivided attention again when there's a minor league system, or something I haven't thought of currently. The whole college football mercenary to this extent I can't follow with any enthusiasm.

I agree with this.

It doesn’t help either when your own coach has expressly stated that he doesn’t like the NIL system.

I think this is where many fans will end up. There is less connection between the players, coaches, and fans than ever. The transfer portal highlights this reality.
A large stadium with uncomfortable seating is not going to do it for the future.
Cut capacity, increase amenities.
I think fans will need to be recruited. The time investment to go to a game will need to be rewarded with an experience worthy of a fan’s time. I’m not giving up an entire weekend for the current product. Winning big would help, but there will need to be structural changes in the way the game day experience works. At minimum, chair seats with cup holders for every seat, and game times need to be evening until October. I don’t think the 11 o’clock kickoffs work for many people. Also, the TV people and game officials need to conduct the game such that it takes 3 hours just like every NFL game.
I think most people are done with aluminum bench seating, limited concessions, and lining up for the bathroom.
