Accurate.

When we hired Caddy he had coached for IMG and the Birmingham Iron. And here a short few years later he was considered essential.

It can work out. It may not.

Hope he can actually recruit southern Florida as well as advertised.

We definitely went the cheap route but Marcus is an incredibly hard worker and I think it will pay off. Malzahn and Dillingham both thought very highly of him. Very smart and professional and relates to players well.

Def an underwhelming hire and there was no need for us to go weeks without a WR if we we're hiring Marcus Davis. We could have had him from the 1st day Freeze was hired.

That we missed on at least 1 other coach. Maybe a few.

exactly. So Hugh got who he thought was the best option. Only time will tell if it was a good hire or not. Hell, you can say that about every HC and position coach all around the country.

Hartman to enter transfer portal and it’s expected he will go to Notre Dame.

LINK

ETA: can we move the Davis talk to the other threads that are specifically for coaches?

He's been a WR coach for 2 years. If he wasn't a former Auburn player his application wouldn't have even been read. I hope it works out, but we cheaped out on this one.

In a weird way, I think people would be less skeptical if he wasn’t an auburn alum.

As for the analytics, he’s being labeled a ‘diamond in the rough’… so clearly it’s based on limited info. It may work out… it may not. We’ll see. It does fit the pattern of the rest of freezes position coach hires (and stands in contrast to both Malzahn and Harsins approach)… very young.

Good point...

I think it's a whiff as far as not getting someone with more experience but I'm going to trust in Freezus and believe he will lead us in the right direction and this hire will cause Auburn to be a place where the 5* WR flow to the Plains like beer and wine.

He's the WR coach with recruiting connections in south Florida. Ike had 0 college coaching experience, and recruiting experience, and many were clamoring for him to come back after 1 year. Give him a year, if it works out that's incredible. If not, replace him next offseason. Everyone questioned every hire to this point, yet we got a top 15 class. With Caddy and our new OC we will be fine, Freeze coaches up QBs too. This is a low risk, potential high reward hire. Give him some time

But does ND want him? They're starting what they consider their future at qb in their bowl game.

If so. That’s the guy we start tampering with.

Still hoping McCall ends up at auburn. Maybe he switches majors or something. He hasn't announced anything yet in regards to staying or leaving coastal

Progress towards degree put a stop to this. Since he’s been in school for 4 years, he has to be 80% of the way towards graduating in whatever degree he were to choose at Auburn.

This week in my fantasy football championship game I am picking up three other defenses in order to keep my opponent from getting any good defenses. I don’t even need them because I have the Eagles defense

Any Interdisciplinary Studies Majors on the board? I think once you have completed all the university core curriculum you are free to take pretty much whatever you want for the “major” courses provided they are at the Jr and Sr level. Maybe someone can correct me if I am mistaken, but that might be his best chance as far as progress toward degree is concerned.

Dillon Johnson set to announce next week. Would be a nice pickup. How we feeling about him?

Appears he might be heading back to Mississippi State.
