would be solid depth if nothing else. Read an article and his run blocking is good. It didn't say anything about pass protection.

He's a PFF 1st Team All-SEC Guard. He would easily be an instant starter and an upgrade at either Guard spot for us. There is strong indication that he's entering the Portal because he wants to get paid.

Card will probably be a good one, but we need someone with a lot more starting experience. The two that have been mentioned that have not hit the portal yet. Just one and done so Ashford, Geriner, and now Brown get some seasoning.

I think Geriner has a very bright future now.

The portal is here to stay, along with the expense, regardless of what we may or may not want.

The one thing I would like to see put in place is what they have when you announce for the pros, once you declare you are gone regardless of if you are drafted or not.

Last year half the kids who entered the portal did not change teams. That means they were not worth it or they were playing their current team for money. This not only throws your salary structure in flux, every other team is wasting time chasing kids who really have no interest in leaving.

Just curious what is your bar for this? What is a college QB you think his career will be comparable to?

Geriner has shown little upside at this point. Unfounded positive thoughts by one is encouraged, but if he transfers to JSU “no surprise there.” Just gotta “wing it.”

I wonder if Kiffin's strategy to only take small high school classes and emphasize portal restocking is a viable one. I assume Harsin was heading the same direction given the high school guys he was passing on.

Not that I know of. Probably waiting until after bowl season to decide/announce.

Hugh Freeze appears to have found his receivers coach.

Marcus Davis, a four-year letter-winner at receiver for Auburn, is expected to return to the school to coach the position he once played, according to Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee.

Davis, 28, is considered to be an up-and-comer in the coaching industry.

Only 2 years of on field coaching experience (currently at Georgia Southern). Knows south Florida recruiting. Analytics are good, can show passion for Auburn, young can be a recruiting advantage.

Feels like the Etheridge hire which worked out pretty well.

Also can remember when Caddy had no experience but yet here we are, people would have melted if Freeze had not retained him.
