My buddy’s son plays Oline for Andalusia. He said he’s all Auburn right now. That might change depending on what Alston and Cobb do. I know he’s a bigger RB than Cobb though, not as explosive.

He’s a guy that wants to be at Auburn and will go to Auburn unless we frick it up somehow

Yes

Just saw Theo Wease is in the portal. Freeze could use him in the WR group.

LINK

Here is ESPNs portal tracker if anyone wants to bookmark it. Looks like there is a decent amount of lineman in there with experience. Also Rara Thomas from MSU who was their best receiver is in. He is originally from Eufaula so might want to come home hopefully

we might be in play for some west coast kids,

That would have required him to actually get on a plane and recruit which he never did

I know right. It never crossed my mind that the MF, either, didn't realize how cfb worked, or, gave zero fricks how cfb worked..

Recruiting is the most important thing, or, at the very least, tied for most important thing...

It has been glorious seeing CHF all over the place this week. It may not pay off immediately but it does remind me of when Saban was hired and how he overwhelmed Tubs.

Having him on game day proves we are a big name, glad SEC has pull w/ ESPN, ha

Boise State is a regional icon known for its football history, with coaches like Petersen and Hawkins and Koetter, and even before that. Not sure how much actual legwork recruiting you have to do there, because it is already an institutional draw for the type of players it gets. The SEC was a rude awakening for Harsin.

That was my first mistake. Obviously, I'm aware that there are bad recruiters. However, I took it for granted that everyone knew how important it was, and made it an important part of their plan/program...

It is what it is. Turn the page. WDE, CHF!

When Harsin was hired I looked at his classes at Boise and it was a lot of guys from California and Texas IIRC. They recruited, but it’s just a different animal in the SEC

looks like there are some decent OL in the portal and some taller WRs. Should be interesting to see what we get...we do need to get the rest of the staff assembled at least the coordinators and a couple more recruiters...

I’ve been telling this to everyone I know since he got here. Outside of Oregon he didn’t have anyone to challenge him in the North Western part of the country. As far as national relevance in that area you have Boise and Oregon. He could hand pick his team once Oregon picked who they wanted. He went from having his pick to competing with 5 top 10 teams within a few hours drive.

If you go back and look at the classes, most of the kids are from California and Texas. Yes, they signed some kids from Washington and Idaho but not very many in comparison.

They weren’t really recruiting the same guys as Oregon. Boise’s classes were typically ranked between 70-55. Oregon utilizes CA quite heavily but most of those kids still have 5-6 better options than Boise after Oregon gets who they want

In retrospect, this was a red flag. Harsin didn’t have to develop a lot of relationships with local, state or even regional HS coaches if most of his roster is from southern CA or TX
