Word on the streets seems to be the HS class is going to be small and the other half will be portal guys. Not really that upset with the approach, honestly, but cannot be any misses.

So something like 15-20 HS signees, and 10-15 portal guys. Obviously this will not equate a highly ranked class but it’s more about getting the right dudes in now, however that may be. This is also a reality of the portal

Oh for fricks sake. Better competition means easier evaluation and no much more matters when you get on campus then what you did in high school. He's just not an elite elite talent. So he has to work his arse off.

I hope it works out if he commits here. Heck i hope it works out for him where ever he goes.

Sounds like getting your arse kicked on the trail to me. No one else of the big dogs is taking this approach.

Not a big deal given the DB recruiting lately. It’s the position I’m least concerned about on the field and the kid has genuinely good offers. It’s worth pointing out that Auburn isn’t his best option so we might not even land him

No other big dogs have the constant negativity around their coach being gone next season as much as auburn. Whether you like Gus, Hars, or anyone, if they are perceived to be on the chopping block, recruiting will suffer no matter how good of a recruiter they are.

I said it before, we will not recruit in volume until we win on the field. So it won’t be until much closer to ESD that we fill it out so we will have to look portal at that point. But I think Harsin gets that so he’s making the play for the best players possible which likely means more portal reliance this year than just a bunch of guys that don’t fit the needs like Gus did just for recruiting rankings

Portal is better than juco. Juco you can probably count on 1 out of 7 to be serviceable.

much closer to ESD
The fans are in desperation mode and the coaches not'so much.

ME: Big picture they've got the better seat. So I'm not worrying today, I'm seated and calm, and just waiting for the fun to begin.

When do we kick off?

Currently AU is not a big dog. You take what is best available.

Best available, yes, but not the highest rated anybody. It has to be someone that will actually pan out at a position of need. The staff is being highly selective because of the can’t miss nature right now. Portal is an easier sell with that approach.

6-7 seasons at AU get you on the hot seat. Shocker.

Add in losing the last 5 games, bringing in 1 OL, and missing on tons of portal targets. I think Harsin is a really good coach, not believing he’s a really good recruiter.

Luckily we should pick up a few players over the next few days.

Williams, Lew, and JC Hart all expected to commit before next week.

Harsin talks good coach talk. He doesn't walk good coach walk. His recruiting is a disaster. I think the witch hunt this offseason was a terrible look, but the reasons it happened at all are 100% on Harsin. So far it appears little has been done to fix those reasons.

I’m a huge Lew fan, think he has a great chance to start next year.

Paysites are expecting Williams to commit today. I’d take commitment timing with a grain of salt lately
