I think this is a great idea/tool - just hope that CBH can survive to see the payoff.

Had a similar role Michigan State too

Interesting strategy instead of recruiting players just go recruit coaches, analyst, and off field positions.

I wonder at what point Harsin will realize none of this stuff matters if your boosters are against you and refuse to pay for elite recruits. Maybe he already has.

I'm guessing that's why we're not filling the roster with every mid-level 3star who'll commit.

Because he knows the only shot he has is to shock the world this fall, and shame those who tried to shame him, into now paying for players instead of a new HC.

so should he just kick his feet up on his desk and do nothing until that day comes?

maybe he can find a place that will actually give him more than one fricking year to establish himself.

We should let him have 4 recruiting classes before we judge whether he is recruiting or not

I think its a great idea to beef up the scouting dept with people who have pro experience.

There are 131 FBS schools with 25 schollys or 3275.

Now.....

quote:

As reported by CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd, over 6,500 football players have entered the portal over the last academic year — combined across Division I, Division II and Division III

2654 of these were FBS players, over a 50% increase.

Within the next year or two there will be more kids entering the portal from FBS schools than signing NLI out of high school.

As a sidenote, there should be a rule, if you enter the portal you are gone. Otherwise, with NIL you will see darn near every kid entering just to hold his school hostage for more money. This past year 54% of the kids did not transfer.

We have now entered the NFL WITHOUT a salary cap or long term contracts, let the insanity reign.

He should look at the renderings of the new baseball upgrades.

Work, hard work is in the Auburn creed and we reward those that make creed monsters proud.

totally agree. I don't care who the coach is. Give him five years. Year one he is inheriting the previous staffs players. It takes a year for that HC to figure out what he has and who is useless. People want shite right now in this day and age. "well transfer portal". If you fill your roster with transfers and JUCO kids, you are beyond screwed.

I think in an ideal world that’s fair. But Auburn is a place that doesn’t often give you 4 years to figure it out

Corch your constant negativity is tiring. You are part of the problem few that are hurting recruiting by constant criticism of this coach and team. Like Barkley said, let this man coach. If he goes 6-6 again, thats one thing. But if he wins 8/9 games, I hope all of you stfu.

Corch and anyone else has a right to their opinion on here, even if it’s not positive. It’s what sets this place apart.

I’ll definitely shut up if he wins 9 games. I think you’ll find that most of us that are disappointed in recruiting would rather eat crow, bring in a killer class, and win 9+ games than be right

Fair enough if he wins 8 or 9. I'll give him next year as well. But, is the program in better shape today then when he took it over? Absolutely not.

Where was this attitude when we had a coach that was winning 8-9 games a season? No one shut the frick up then.

Why do we have messages boards if we are supposed only come here and say yea war eagle. We have the best of the best in everything and do everything right in every situation.

We are in July. We have hosted many players on OV's and gotten smashed on the recruiting trail. We are able to move on to new players because we are Auburn not because Harsin has some monopoly on talent evaluation.

I have given Harsin credit on some things. He's either been forced to not be pompous prick like he came in, made to understand Auburn isn't Boise, and you better do everything to get in and network with the Auburn family and the southeastern coaches. I have also said I think Harsin is probably a good coach but in the southeast a total fish out of water.

But this is the recruiting thread and our recruiting is horrible.

Harsin changed the culture aka conditioned Auburn fans to accepting 8 wins as an uptick in job performance. Pretty strange really.

Pathetic. 15-0 'ship. Are you involved with Auburn at all?

I took a grand total of one class in Auburn. Have been an Auburn fan since I was 12, so I obviously remember when the same fans that are hoping for 8 wins were saying Gus should be fired with that number that he mostly got every year (at least) At least I’m consistent. Don’t blame me because you’re not.

My biggest complaint of this staff has been recruiting. But no a coach at Auburn with a top 15 in talent roster doesn't need 4-5 years to find out whether he can do the job or not.

Everyone was high as a kite when we were 6-2. He and his staff shite the bed. Allowed the MSU comeback, lost to a bad South Carolina, and then the players played out of their minds in the Iron Bowl and he took the pussy route going for the tie in OT instead of trying to win it. There were other questionable decisions through out the season some worked some didn't.

So don't give me all fans have to be "bought in" on what the coach is selling to be able to recruit. Half the fan base wanted Gus fired his last 4 years. He did fine.

Gus's problem wasn't as much a numbers game but more-so who he lost to and how he mis-managed a lead.

While we still don't know for sure what Harin's MO will be. You might have a guess but it'd not written in stone yet. And if he equals the former coaches numbers it'll likely end the same way.

I think most have said 7 wins they think he is safe for another year. The roster outside of WR screams 10 win season. So much like last year finishing about 3 losses lower seems to be a trend. But gotta let the games play out. During the season I will bitch about x's and o's or say it was a good call right adjustments.

But in this thread until the situation improves I'll bitch all I want.
