2 - Receivers

I've heard they have actually been one of the more surprising position groups, LB & WR have stood out.

Really looking forward to what we can find out saturday.

I hope you're right, but we have no experience. Even though wide receiver is a fairly easy position for a young kid to play, they need some direction from experienced players.

It's a lot like us experienced posters on this board, guiding the young bucks and teaching them the ropes.

No experience? What lol? They brought in three Seniors. Jyaire Shorter has been in college since 2018 lmao. Even the returning guys (Johnson, Moore) are entering their 4th and 5th seasons. Johnson is a Senior himself.

They run multiple schemes in the run game. They run middle, outside, and stretch zones, they run gap schemes, counters, pulls.

But can they meerkat and run inside zone after every first down to the field?

We picked up several experienced WRs in the portal. Mardner, Shorter, Hooks off the top of my head

That is different. They were experienced at different places with different teams and with different defenses. It's going to be very different with a total new scheme, new players around them and in a different league.

Let's hope they gel fast.

You just changed your statement completely.

Your first post implies that they are young (they're not), but then you throw in: "even though wide receiver is a fairly easy position for a young kid to play." Again, the majority of the rotation is not young.

Now you're saying they're not young, but it's "different" because of different defenses and new schemes? They don't play completely different football in these other conferences, my guy.

So by your own statement receiver is fairly easy to play, but Jyaire Shorter who's been in college since 2018 (the guy is a grown-arse man) isn't experienced because it's a different scheme? What?

No, you are simply wrong. This roster has 5 receivers who have HEAVY experience. Not just experience, but HEAVY experience. Two of the young guys (Brown and Fair) played last season.

ole Lanier reminds of Mikey on AUF.

Mikey is old, wiise, and mature and was often right way more than anyone wanted to admit

He was hated by many. He probably still is today, cant tell you because I am banned.

Think about it, Willy with a B:

You might be agreeing with someone that thinks we can win the west.

Practice video from yesterday. Looks like another install day on offense. Some throws by all the QBs.

He was in that video that was posted the other day where they were talking about who they'd want to survive in the woods with. Dude is jacked and looks like the prototypical linebacker.

Apparently he was battling some injuries most of last year (foot I think?). Athletically he is everything we could want at LB. Sounds like he is having wonderful camp so far.

I don't really hate anyone these days much less some rando on a message board. My issue has more to do with the one broken record he's always playing. Hell, in this instance, he argues two different sides of one argument for what seems to be the sole purpose of being negative. I don't know how you justify that as wisdom.

Think about it, jang with an alang.

Can’t remember what it was exactly but pretty sure he had some personal issues going on as well.

I believe he had a significant death in the family. I could be misremembering the situation.

We will see how experienced our WR play is in like four weeks against Cal. You just make sure the devil gets his due if he is right.

WR room has certainly upgraded. It was at the floor when Freeze arrived. Nobody here knows if our room is an upper echelon SEC WR room yet.

I did laugh at LanierShits though. Lanier went through the dark ages of Auburn in the 70s. He’s understandably pessimistic.

Completely agree on the WRs. No one knows if they will be good or not. He may end up being dead on balls accurate. If so, I will respectfully tip my hat.

However, my point was not intended to address that specific subject even though I replied to it. Hell, it's really not even about Lanier. It's about the fanbase's general train of thought. It's frustrating to constantly see Auburn crapping on Auburn. We get enough of that from other fanbases across the nation. It's time for it to stop internally. Auburn being Auburn should be a badge of honor... not a punchline.

My apologies to Lanier... I shouldn't have structured it as a personal attack.

I get the point that it seems like many people crap on the team, but it has been awhile since we had a good passing game.

I know a lot goes into that, so hopefully OL improvement and QB improvement can help the WR core make teams start to fear us a bit.
