We’re about 37 days into this staff’s full recruiting effort and it shows. With nothing else to discuss recruiting is always the spotlight in July. Is what it is. But a handful of folks here always make this thread about their personal problem with the football program: Jacobs, Gus, Greene, Harsin, Boosters/PTB, and so on. Year after year
Harsin was hired in December

Apparently the staff is really, really high on Caleb Wooden. This might be one of those "evaluation versus rankings" situations.

I don’t believe we could have recruits on-campus before then. That’s why he said full

Lanier you a dead on brother. If KJ did not get hurt you don't know how 17 would have ended. Who could have done better with the way al. ga. and lsu have been.

June was the first time recruits could visit campus in part of a coordinated visit with the school and coaching staff (They could visit on their own dime if the chose without interaction in any capacity with the staff. Or they could do a virtual visit with was absolutely useless). Which is why I said exactly what I said.
I’d recommend not posting like a dickead in this thread if you don’t know what you’re talking about because you’ll get taken out to the dumpster each and every goddamn time. Post more. All are welcome here

Thanks for this thread Jones. Will you update the OP with the new guys?

Absolutely. Im on EST time right now in Nantucket. Wifi is spotty and I’m headed back west in a few days. Hope to have everything updated by Monday including an updated look at targets by position

South Carolina is ranked 14th in recruiting (4th in the SEC).
Half of this board would bust their nut over that current ranking.
With 1 guy in the top 300.
With 2 4* kids and 15 kids total committed.
Auburn is ranked 74th with 1 guy in the top 300 and 5 total commitments. Both schools are SEC schools with coaches hired around the same time. Any coach would want to be where Auburn is right now versus where USCe is right now with a mostly full class.
It’s weird with the low volume of commitments but the remaining slots aren’t occupied with shite recruits. Just wait and see what happens. The other side of this coin is being South Carolina and having 12 guys outside the top 500 occupying roster spots for 4+ years.

Indeed he’s a good one. He also playing on a loaded roster. Stats won’t tell his full story this fall

Jonesy throwing down up in hurr
If this is headed to Sonic, I got your back. Make them come to Denver and we can laugh as they wither with lack of oxygen and then whoop dat arse back to the South.
eta: any other commitments expected this week?

KN is hinting at one. Everyone seems to think Caleb Wooden.

What highs are you blabbering about? We don't deal with almost or if's. Gus won one SEC championship. Chizik, Tubs, Dye and Shug did more. I love how you gloss over JSU, UT, Clemson debacle, USCe. Repeated recruiting failures at QB and OL. But you do you.

Wooden is the first guy outside Powell that is a true reach. And in terms of known targets, thr only other true reach I see in this class. He has P5 offers but if we want to criticize Auburn, he shouldn’t be a take and he is mostly a take because of his brother. And we did this with Kameron Brown.
But Bama doesn’t do this for 4* DE Caden Story or 4* OL Riley Quick because their brothers are there. We’ve got to tighten that shite up.
Again, no sunshine. 100% real here.
Other guys I’m watching this month:
4* DE Caden Story
4* RB Damari Alston
3* OL Drew Bobo
I’d guess 3* WR Jay Fair (probable 4* guy) is a July commitment as well but he hasn’t made date known. KN thinks July and early August are good for Auburn. We’ll see. It looks like former 5* WR Demetrius Robertson is an imminent commitment too

Good rundown.
I have no background on any of these athletes outside of what is brought here. I ramped down my love for recruiting news several years ago. I haven’t been to a recruiting site in about 4-5 years. Except some articles that pop up in my email from 247 that catch my attention now and then.

How do you rectify this with the strong indication that they dropped/slow-played Emory Floyd, but now supposedly want to take Wooden? Those two things don't seem to line up to them evaluating the latter as a "reach", otherwise why not solidify Floyd who we clearly led for and could have secured?

From the vantage point of a fan, I can’t. And we enter that murky area where we say “trust the coaches”.
There’s a scenario where Wooden is, on their board, in similar standing. Which is totally possible. But the offer sheet is way different which paints the picture for me.
