Yeahhh, you got something right!! (Just kidding after reading all the back an forth on transfers)..
We may now have that concrete block we needed in the middle of the 3-4. I never felt Truesdell had enough strength to plug the middle well enough...

Wat? That's the one thing he does have. We need this guy for sure as well, but Truesdell was always made more for this style defense that what we've been running.

Don't agree. While he IS strong, if you watch his film he gets pushed out and around too much. He seemed to lack that extra nastiness needed to plug the middle. I hope Eason gets him going, as we will need him and Tony to play a lot in that middle.

I don't think it bodes too well for Truesdell that they were basically raving about Jeremiah Wright (a kid with limited experience who moved from the OL last season) and now they're bringing in a Senior NT who fills the same role. Tony Fair is coming here to start and I can't imagine they used a transfer spot to "split reps". By nature of the DL I'm sure Truesdell will get reps, but this kid is much more talented.

Between Truesdell Fair, Butler, Burks, Hunter and Robinson gives us pretty good depth at DT now.

That is a different argument though. Nobody is arguing that he may be more talented or even one of our better DT's. We were also extremely thin at DT so bringing in a transfer was probably going to happen anyways IMO, speaks nothing to Truesdell.
However, I am arguing he was not well suited for our prior defensive scheme. He is better suited for this current scheme, and general strength and ability to hold ground in the middle is his strong suit. When he was asked to try and move the pocket more and split gaps/stunts, that is when he struggled greatly and got moved around too easily.

I mean, literally nobody is arguing this.

I think we’ll see a pretty heavy rotation along the interior DL. Tony Fair will be a nice addition to that

Yep. I think he is a good get, if nothing else than general scheme knowledge and experience.

TJ Finley is talking heavily with AU.

I will file this with the Justyn Ross info.

We aren't talking to TJ unless we think Bo sucks and can't start. He isn't looking to be QB2 and wait.

Even if AU thought Bo was the starter, what’s the downside to recruiting this guy?

TJ Finley is talking heavily with AU.
"They don't have a lot of quarterbacks in the room behind Bo (Nix) that can step in and play and I feel like they lack experience behind Bo," Finley said. "And there is an opportunity there. A lot of people in the organization there since the new staff got there believe I can come in and compete for the starting job. It ain't like me going there to be a backup."

Yup, exactly. It's much harder for an unestablished QB like Finley because schools on this level aren't just going to promise him a starting spot given what he showed last season, so his options are to either transfer down and play right away or remain at this level and find a spot where he can compete and/or be QB #2 and work his way into being the next guy.
He has a lot of eligibility left so he isn't a guy that needs to find a place where he'll play on day one. Auburn makes a lot of sense given system fit, and the fact that we have no depth at QB. I mentioned this before, but Davis isn't really the "type" of QB that this staff has been recruiting either so the path to starter for someone like Finley really isn't that big. That's not even mentioning the fact that Bo Nix isn't going to have an infinite leash anymore.
